AC hurt, but not to the negative. Hilman not sure why you have it as a negative. We saw growth 2013 January was 50,902

Due to higher than anticipated demand, Icelandair is adding 5th weekly operation on Reykjavik – Edmonton route, from 03JUN14 to 02SEP14. New flight operates on Tuesdays.
FI693 KEF1645 – 1725YEG 75W x47
FI692 YEG1825 – 0640+1KEF 75W x47
The airline will launch this route from 05MAR14, initially 4 times a week.
In addition, the carrier from 28MAY14 to 24SEP14 will further increase Reykjavik – Zurich service, as the airline increases from 2 to 4 weekly, instead of 3.
FI568 KEF0720 – 1300ZRH 75W x157
FI569 ZRH1400 – 1550KEF 75W x157

Good catch dansk , the pdf I have shows 50,902 International passengers for 2013 (Jan) and it now stands at 56,246, the correct growth should be +10.5% (I will edit it).

Where did the aircraft come from? I don't see any services getting dropped, although haven't looked to hard. To the best of my knowledge FI has not bought or leased any new airplanes, so where does the lift come from?

soon to be 7 days - sales continue to go UP UP UP
Why are you concerned where the metal comes from?? AC is happy to code share and not contribute ANY metal or station at YEG to the US...and United does the lifting...if FI have to beg borrow lease or cut or reduce service elsewhere so what?

It is sterile and has no sense of presence. Too many people on this thread try to placate what is bad design. This is because they're in a related profession (a tech person and not an actual Architect) and/or are vested/employed in the business (of a design firm). While they have their views and monopolize certain forums, if we took a poll I am willing to bet that 90% of "paying" travellers (Jo Public) would state that it is crap design. Too many people in the "design" field on C2E and SS espousing the acceptance of bad design...because they have vested interests and protect the business.

IMO...and working with the design "industry". I may have a lot more to say about this in the future.

Is it a functional hotel? Perhaps.
Is it late in coming? Definitely.
Is it beautiful, awe-inspiring design? Fack no.

Indeed. I would consider both Cold and myself as one of the biggest critics of 'design'.

Not concerned from a YEG or FI perspective, but one does not require complex scheduling and network planning tool to figure out a 21 airplane fleet that flies primarily at the upper end of mid haul range. FI has about 250 weekly flights so MS Excel is all that is required to figure out where there is slack in the flying schedule.

If the network and fleet are appropriately balanced , there should be no slack in the summer schedule for North Atlantic cause if you cant make money in the summer, something is drastically wrong.

If the fleet is at capacity flying (once mtce has been factored in) the only way to added new services is to cut unprofitable or marginally profitable flying. Legacy airlines are good at announcing both side of flying equation, however smaller airlines and particularly LCCs do not announce service cuts. Its left up to the avgeek network planner wannabes to figure out where the metal is comming from. its the wannabe angle that I have a front row curiosity in this dog fight.

The schedule announced way back in September accounted for most of the 3 752 retreads, I took the remaining schedule slack to be that FI was over accounting for mtce requirements (or alternately had heavy mtce requirements on their existing fleet such that .75 tail equivalent was missing from the schedule). Since September, I have not heard of FI picking up any additional lift.

FI shares the same problem as WS Alberta to Hawaii operation, unexpected delays in the schedule can wreak havoc with ontime performance. The only way to counter this operational risk is to fly with a lot of slack in the schedule. After 2 years of operational incidents caused by unexpected mtce, WS increased their flying by 0.5 tail but added 1 aircraft to the operation. The additional schedule slack has improved OTP.

Sounds like YCD will soon have a nonstop link to YEG from a "undisclosed" carrier...

Safe to bet it's Encore.

Love the mod you made to your avatar, Biggie. Good for YCD, I hear there's a lot of demand from YEG, so good news. Even if it means downgrading the YQQ flight to Encore as well. It's about practicality. Those Q's are great airplanes. What's an extra 10-15 minutes flying time?

That extra time is a bonus to stare at those bigass turboprop engines and enjoy the ride.

Glad you like the avatar modification. Such wow.

I think Icelandair is doing something right. Share prices double in last 12 months.

http://centreforaviation.com/profiles/airlines/icelandair-fi

I think it is in the details - like the seat class comparison to industry average, inboard service etc.
