2007 - 2012 Expansion Project
An additional 13 bridges will be built on the south side of the terminal, boosting the total number of bridges to 30 from the current 17.
Phase 1 (completion date 2010): 253,000 square metres of new apron space to accommodate new south terminal development.
Phase 2 (completition date 2011): A new "hammerhead" located south of the current airport terminal.
Phase 3 (completion date 2012): A new concourse linking the existing south terminal with the "hammerhead", new control & office tower.

First post wondering if the infrastructure of YEG is going to be able to meet the growth in the next 5 years...I think its going to lag behind and that might hinder it.

realistically...where will we be in 5...so 2012?

2007 - 18% growth = 6,000,000
2008 - 12% growth = 6,720,000
2009 - 10% growth = 7,392,000
2010 - 8 % growth = 7,983,360
2011 - 6 % growth = 8,462,361

let's look at a "low model":

2007 - 18% growth = 6,000,000
2008 - 8% growth = 6,480,000
2009 - 6% growth = 6,868,800
2010 - 4 % growth = 7,143,552
2011 - 2 % growth = 7,286,423

so even a low model is going to be at 7.5mil by 2012 ish...

They should just build the terminal out for 10 million, it may never even achieve that kind of number, but it ensures easy passenger handling and no more hic-ups.

I am going to guess we will continue to see staggering growth for atleast a couple more years,we are in the perfect position for it and there many plans being made by some of the big players in the oil industry to make YEG the hub to these places.Debeers is using YEG for its snap lake diamond mine project to transport workers to site already,Diavak and Ekati are also supplied with workers through YEG.
I dont want YEG to be the most crowded and busy little airport in the west,but without proper planning we could easily head that way...Hold on we are already half way there.

And that's only 5 years away. So, any new expansion plans should be designed to accommodate at least 10 million passengers given it will take 24-36 months to design and build.

YEG is doing the equivalent of building a one lane road then a two lane then a two lane with turn offs then 3 lane with lane control then 4 lane...

do the 3 lane with lane controls or more now...

Found another frequency today that is interesting there are two LAX flights arriving different flight numbers one is at 3pm and the other is at 4:30pm...anyone have insights?

It looks like they are just renovating the WestJet side of the terminal which needs it so badly. Are they?? It needs it badly as it looks 60 years old at the North end of the terminal... Is there a planned start date for this South side expansion?

So, I dropped my brother and his buddy off at the airport yesterday for his flight to London on AC. When they were checking in at the kiosk, they decided to see if they could change their seats. Upon looking at the seat map, there was NOT ONE EMPTY SEAT! With that said, I know they usually block out the exit rows and bulkheads, but wow - I was impressed. They asked the lady at the bag drop off if any of the exit rows were available, and they were told the plane was full. I'm glad to see this route doing so well!
