Cage had mentioned poor yields on WS' seasonal YYC-DFW run; here Saretsky specifically mentions it as possibly going year-round in their continuing transborder battle vs AC: “Places like Chicago, Dallas and San Francisco, we only serve during the summer season, and there’s an opportunity to take those to year-round service."

They might have sent a 738 to YYZ to try to make up seats, so they were short one out here. I'll look at it now and try to figure out where she could be going tomorrow. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often, that 1402, 1460, 1470, 1564, etc. don't get subbed for a -700 to shift around capacity. Mickey has been flying pretty straight forward rotations since I started tracking.
Yeah I drove out there, and it wasn't worth it. The weather was brutal with wind whipping up the snow, so visibility was terrible, and then of course it wasn't the Mickey Jet. Thanks for letting me know. We are flying YQR - LAS on March 8th, so I'm crossing my fingers that we get the Mickey Jet.

Parallel opens in June btw.

I have to say it's been painful the last couple days in IMC. There is a departure hole that would be no problem, but we have extra separation requirements for arrival vs arrival and arrival vs departure. I am not a fan!

Looks like you guys beat me to the news of the Atlas 747 coming to town to help out with WS ops. The TCX 752 will also assist with ops today as it was not scheduled to operate today anyways. Where is Atlas based and what do their 747s look like inside? Even if I were one of the displaced guests, I sure wouldn't mind a ride in a 747 as I've never had the pleasure!

Next time save yourself the drive and check the flight on flightradar24.com, find the plane in the air and click on it. It will indicate what registration is operating the aircraft complete with a picture of it. They have already updated that reg to show the Mickeyjet.

Thanks for the clarification Nick, I had May in my head for some reason.

On another note, do you know a controller in YBW tower with the initials NVA? I've known him since his student pilot days at CFTC.

Atlas is US based, they also operate the 747 Dreamlifters for Boeing:

Callsign is "Giant"

All the cities mentioned are either AA (old airline) or DL hubs. I think over the mext year WS will go more into the hubs of their code share partners, more to take up the flying from code shares. What WS is unlikely to do is go into the major business only markets like YYC-DEN and YYC-IAH.

The flight tracking websites and even WS' own system don't like these last minute extra capacity flights and often show errors, but I'm curious to see what happens today. Looks like they sent an additional 73G this morning as a redeye along with 648 and 652. AC has a 763 sitting around for 12 hours today that could've done YYC-YYZ-YYC as well (usually routes OGG 44 YYC 850 LHR)

My bad! Looks like that rotation has been done by a -700 only a few times in the last couple months, I couldn't have seen it coming. Mickey has been to YQR and YXE a couple times already so, for March 8.

Yes, the runway's expected to open late June, already 5-6 weeks later than first anticipated. Thank the weather gods.

Yeah but only at the out stations is this of any value, as FR24 doesn't know what tail is operating what flight until the transponder starts reporting. To get yourself in position to spot it you'd really have to know ahead of time by checking gates and schedules.

Say it was operating LAS-YQR, wouldn't that give the would be spotter plenty of time to get there?

Ah nevermind, I see you mean if you were spotting at YYC or YQR and it was going to leave there, you may have mere minutes at best to realize it was there and about to depart.

Is there plans for a crossing runway on the new parrallel for sim ops with the current crossing runway? This would seem to be an important option for during chinook winds

YEG will see the 77W sardine can on AC175/172.

Confirmed its AC newest 77w (delivered Dec 19). C-FNNU is operating AC164 as we speak.

C-FNNU is doing the YYZ-YHZ-YYZ-YVR run tomorrow.

The AC 77W this morning has more seats than Atlas Air Charter 747 that WS has contracted.
