That link is to Albatros Aircraft in YYC taking the Augusta Westland 109, totally different than this proposed S-92 operator.

I've see that 109 doing circuits at YBW and it has utilized YYC's downtown helipad (by the Peace bridge) a few times that I have seen from my home.

Interesting that we have 2 proposals. Where in downtown yeg. Other than say the arena district i can't see it any where else

Albatros is also offering the downtown flights on a charter basis, Policy Wonk was saying this S-92 proposal would be a scheduled service.

Personally I think it would be pretty cool to have this between our cities. They should just use the roof of the Bow for the YYC heli-pad.

There are several different groups with several different schemes and lots and lots of lawyers. But ultimately before the smart money gets too aggressive they want to see Parkland Airport fully built-out unmolested before seriously entertaining commercial heliport and stolport proposals.

The law is on their side, but if Transport Canada isn't it is sort of a moot point.

Quikair wanted to try something like this, but they were so weakened after the bruising they took at YEG that it just wasn't possible.

The bruising at YEG that quickair took had many factors, among them was upaid fuel bills.

I only know since at the time I was working with the company they couldn't pay for the fuel they purchased. We gave them a grace period and ended up chasing them for the cost (which at the time was the lowest fuel price they had ever paid).

We weren't happy to contribute to one of the factors but at the end of the day business is business and Jet-A wasn't free.

Ultimately the issue for all the small operators forced from YXD to YEG was the cost of operating from the FBO's at YEG. If YEG had a facility like the South Terminal at YVR it would have gone much better for all concerned. But the ERAA made it pretty abundantly clear they just wanted the small operators from YXD to hurry up and die.

Integra air seemed to be the only carrier of the bunch that held it's own out of the (Quickair,Peace Air) bit.

Integra still successfully operates from a FBO at YEG.

I doubt if can be done anymore, but one could park in the lowest level of the parkade (where the rental cars are) and it exits out of the parkade without having to go through the gates.

Just to clarify things this week will not be the week that a major route announcement is made. There was some confusion about a Facebook post made by EIA that I just caught on to...

However I have been informed that a announcement will be made (Likely in Jan).

DFW will be added to the roster. Now the question remains Mad dog? 738? 319 (Maybe).

They moved to YEG in October 2005, the Executive Flight Centre facility from which they operate didn't open until Fall of 2007.

Not sure where your getting your info from but I worked for the company from 2004 onwards... The companies "expanded" FBO opened at that time...

Believe me... I kinda headed the company with a few other folks.

On another note, interesting to see the battle in progress between DL and AS at SEA.... Will be interesting to see the outcome.
