So a bit of a rant.

Went out to the Airport on Saturday (yes I drove the ice roads) to pick up my wife. Watched flight tracker and it was not until I arrived at the Airport that the tracker indicate the flight headed back to the coast. Not my bitching part. All the flight boards in the airport indicated the flight arrived and was at the gate. 15 minutes later still showing arrived. WS staff did not know where the plane was. Then I was informed by my wife by phone they were over nighting in Van. Still WS staff here could not say what was happening. Headed home an hour later wife calls back and said they are heading back to YEG for a 2am landing. Get back out at 2 and wait. Wife has some temporary mobility issues. Ground staff did not have enough wheel chairs for the 3 people on board so told my wife to wait and they would be right back ½ hour later my wife walked to security and found a wheel chair. There were 4 empty wheel chairs at baggage claim and 2 staff standing there. Could not someone have picked up a radio and said there were some downstairs.
One other rant. Do not drive through the quick pickup area. Way too many stupid people. Had one asshole stop in the drive lane open the back hatch and load his pickups, was not the worst part, he took time to chat with someone.

OK I am done.
How bout them Oilers.

That quick pickup area with the parking meters? Worst thing about the airport.

^it is not very good no, but not any different (other than size) of any other airport I have been to. Most are gong shows, with Vancouver being the worst in the sense that there really isn't much of one. That said, ours does not work very well.

Airboy - sorry to hear about that.

Its all part of the broken leg(s) adventure.

The arrivals hall and pick up area realy need a make over. I grabbed my wifes luggage and walked away and no one said a thing. And there was a cop standing there.

^Price elasticity, simple supply and demand (convenience).

It is cheaper to do often do a quick parkade park or wait at 7-11.

I do the hourly parking normaly. When I do drive up, I do the phone call wait at 7-11 then pick up on departures level.

I'm flying to Kelowna on the 24th, leaving at 4pm.

That should be fun.

Yep a old insider secret was to park up on the departures level at the north terminal by the Sunwing, Air Transat doors.

Very little activity on this end after 500PM and no parking patrol.

Not sure if it's still quiet but always used to be...

Funny how few people use it. Most people will sit and wait in the drive through than park and go in.

I miss the days of being able to park at the plant and take the tunnel into the terminal

On another topic, I have not heard any speculation hereabouts regarding Allegiant Airlines coming to Edmonton. This past August there was a news item reporting a big cheese from Allegiant spouting a plan to operate to Florida from Canada. No specific places were mentioned, other than ruling out Toronto. Atlantic Canada and "underserved" centres out west were mentioned. Allegiant's practice is to avoid centres well served by incumbent players. Edmonton currently has a single seasonal weekly flight to Orlando by Westjet. They could easily keep Allegiant out by increasing Florida service from here. Either way, I anticipate better Florida service from Edmonton.

Of course, some of you may have better information.
Yep, looks like Sunwing will keep Veradero and Montego Bay as a year round flight from YEG in S14. This in addition to CUN and PVR.

Policy Wonk was posting about a company that is looking to start downtown to downtown flights between YYC and YEG using Sikorsky 92's. Apparently they already have land in downtown YEG for the helipad but are still looking in YYC.

Anyone hear about this up in YEG?

I have heard twinkling about it. Apparently they will use the name "city links" as a proposed name.

Still pretty early and I believe it's still very much on paper.

Wasn't there an Alberta City Link that used to fly Jetstream's between YYC and YXD?

Sure was, just slight name change.

Maybe a few of the same investors.

The few times i used it, was ok. Always felt we were walking a lot further. The Calgary tunnel system is much more extensive there were Us boarder guys running through it.
