Agreed.
On my drive out to Calgary in late January 2009 with all the measly possessions that would fit into my car I did ~7-8 hour daily drives, and most of it while I was sick with a terrible cold.
Niagara Region/Buffalo-Chicago.
stayed with my cousin for a week (was only supposed to stay a couple of nights) because I came down with a said terrible cold after partying it up in Wrigleyville.
Chicago-Minneapolis spent the night
(Aloft hotel had sweet room with great view of the skyline. talked to ppl at nearby pub, 1 of which was a former Buffalonian, another Minneapolis native-female that was jealous and wanted to come to Calgary with me 
)
Minneapolis-Winnipeg spent the night
(sick as a dog, and it was so cold in Peg City that the swipe card wouldn't work on the outside door of the hotel. Hotel clerk said it was exceptionally cold, even for Winnipeg 
Winnipeg-Regina spent the night
(most overpriced hotel room ever, but after endless prairie Regina was a welcome respite)
Regina-Calgary finally made it February 9. been here ever since
