out of curiosity, are you comparing your taxes to average or median residential taxes in the city, to average or median single family taxes in the city or to an actual comparable residence in the city?

A comparable residence, slowly mixed with non-statistical contributing factors; with a dash of exaggeration and slow roasted over reasonably warm assumptions.

You know. The ol' - I live in st. albert, my taxes are twice of what Edmontons are. That recipe. It's something us St.Albertonians (St. Albertans?) like to do in our spare time.

Which is my point exactly. The true cost of residential services and infrastructure is high. Most city's use commercial and industrial tax base to offset these costs so the full brunt is not felt by the residential tax payer alone. St. Albert is an example where that offset isn't as high, as as such you see those true costs being reflected.

That being said, with the Henday now extended, some of those parcels of industrial land look a little more attractive. Hopewell has done a good job leveraging their commercial property to the SE too.

Love your comment, I am paying 4200 for a 1400sf home in a 70s neighbourhood. Mind you I have a great yard. One note. I have a cousin living up the street and he is paying $50.00 more that a similar home he had in Windsor.

Thanks thats worth the taxes. The house maybe not. Just had to do a structural repair.

He cleans up pretty good when he has to. The shots I have seen of him around the web he usually has 3 weeks face growth, blood shot eyes, hair like a rats nest and he looks like he sleeps in the suit he wears. I am thinking MIA don't pay well and its stressful. Maybe the lady he is with put the hammer down and had him clean up for this photo up...and behold - a human!!

Kidding aside, Ian deserves to be on the list. He makes Edmonton a better place day in and day out.

Municipalities in the Edmonton area are no strangers to the prickly subject of regional governance. For the last five years, they have lived under the provincially mandated Capital Region Board established by the Stelmach government in a bid to end regional gridlock and bickering.

As an impending construction boom promises to push the skyline of this city up, one Edmontonian could be standing particularly tall.

A 71-storey building, dubbed The Edmontonian, is in the early planning stages for a parcel of land at 10525 101st St. If the project is built to its current specifications, at 278 metres it would be the tallest tower in the West and second tallest in the country, after Toronto’s 298-metre First Canadian Place.
