My wife went to the
Hallmark at Champlain this past weekend and plenty of merchandise was on clearance, lots of greeting cards missing too. She asked the employee and was told that they will know by the end of the week if they are closing. What?!
If this place closes and another beauty store opens, I will just give up. I think that this mall is not a mall anymore; it's just beauty, accessories and clothing for women; most successful malls have a variety of tenants and clientele. Lots of variety at Mic Mac Mall and I believe they are doing better than Champlain. I'm not sure if it's the right strategy for Champlain, it's just too much, soon only women will ever go there.
Oh yes, Champlain is clean and shiny, but Champlain used to be busier than it's been in the past few years... I don't want to pick on Swarovski, but when was the last time you saw someone there.

Every time I walk in front of this place I think to myself, how can this place stay open? This is only one example, many others could be named...
P.S. I understand the aspect of sales per sq ft and what it means on paper for a mall, but still.
With the opening of Target and Marshalls, more and more shopping will be shifted out of Champlain.
