No bathtub in the ensuite.
I study that makes the kitchen the size of one on a small sailboat.
Crappy living room layout.

They better rethink their plans or better yet start working with a professional high end condo layout planner.
I was thinking the same ... Pretty tiny kitchen area for a $1m condo.

Hey, can you post some links to highrise condos in Van for $1mil. I'd be curious to compare.

it will be very interesting to see if these sell....that web site is clearly on the cheap...everything about it is vague...stock images of buildings that are somewhere else that have nothing to do with this one, very weak visuals....they don't even have renderings of the building itself for whatever reason...

pretty hilarious that the south facing unit has a big glass wall all along it but when you click to see the view from there it shows you a west view, which would be through a bedroom window, because the real view is into the side of 201 portage....makes me wonder why the living room wouldnt go on the west wall so it at least has a view...the worst view in the unit is from the living space.

All things considered , unless you have some inside information about this particular project I think TV has a much better take on these things. I mean , it's his job to know about all of this sort of thing and considering he knows all about how the timetables tend to go it stands to reason that he's right.

None of that is meant as any sort of challenge or anything. Just saying that you may not be aware of TV's reputation around these parts.

Just a few points/observations from the article in the WFP and One Portage and Main website dealing with various posts ^^^ on the topic so far.

The website:
http://oneportageandmain.ca/

Quote:
Renderings and representative images are for demonstration purposes only. Actuals will vary.
This would suggest that they are still undecided on much of the actual look. Some of thier concepts and ideas may change dramatically in the end.

The page below on the site gives more of a representation of the various floor plans available, for the predesigned suites rather than just one."The Park Avenue"
http://oneportageandmain.ca/residences/floor-plans/

WFP Article:
http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/new-tower-slated-for-storied-corner-221899531.html

Quote:
sell for $500,000 to $1 million apiece, including a parking spot, Bachman said. That price range reflects both the size of the space and options to choose one of two finishing packages or a customized space.
Thier appears to be a great deal of flexibility in the final design of the suites and would affect the price ranges accordingly. -- $ 500,000 - 1 mill.

Not to mention the choice of including room service, twice-daily room cleanings and included valet parking, access to the terrace etc as per the article..affecting the final purchase cost.

Quote:
One floor has already been reserved for use by two large condo buyers, Bachman said.
Anyone actually have a chance to view the actual showroom?

^^ha ha. I agree.

They may show some kind of image, but if they do it will be veeeery preliminary and essentially make believe. It will not be a full layout of a marketing scheme etc. they will likely introduce the team, say they bought the site etc. they are still right at the beginning, that much I know. This project is still very much a long shot.

I agree that they would be stupid to do this a second time without any images so they may show something. I am just warning that they are just barely past due diligence on the site and have apparently just hired the design team, so whatever they present will be dreamy not reality based.

You are also right about things like a name. That kind of thing is likely.

I have a feeling that the majority of the condos will be sold to businesses looking to have a residence available to visiting executives.

^ that was definitely the goal early on. I wonder how many companies there are that would do that.

I bet the two large condo buyers are David and Gail.

I was always under the impression that the spaces would be sold pretty raw so they could be tailored. Only plumbing and other mechanical would be located.

They were pretty confident that these would sell out in a matter of weeks and would build more depending on demand.

So are you saying they may add more residential floors if there is demand?

Unless it's an Empire State Building, we'd rather a gravel parking lot for another generation...

Come on guys. TV, pegcity, spocket, andy, crane.... why the negativity???!!?!?!!? Rather have a gravel lot? Or, let me guess, if you had the choice, you'd design a MUCH better building. If that's the case, put forth the 70+ million dollars and put the money where your mouth is. Sorry, I'm sick and tired of people nit picking every detail of a positive proposal for a city that's lucky enough to have investors even think of investing here.

Why not their parents' condo at One Wellington?

When Babs died there were only two units occupied in that building, her and Thornsteinson. Now only one AFAIK.

RE: TV about Fortress.
I'd be happy with even just a sketch. Something to get the ball rolling marketing wise.

RE: JamieDavid about One Portage & Main
I have nothing on this one. I want this building to go up therefore the design is good enough for me. Plans change, although in Winnipeg usually not for the best.

Messed up they're using TV's work though. Love that terrace image.

I am excited for this development, but I think that's a little messed up to be using your IP and misleading to site viewers unless it has been incorporated into the current final design

I wonder if sales go well with the condos, will they try to sell more (I.e. In crease the size of the building)

Usually agree with TV on most issues but on the re-opening of P & M to pedestrian traffic I don't. Really don't see how allowing pedestrians to cross on top of the street will suddenly transform that part of down town into anything more than it already is.
