I was curious about this as well as I picked up on the conversation? Sopo and Hotel? Is thier something that has been missed or are we possibly talking about the Carton Inn proposal very close to this particular location.

Correction: it does mention a Hotel at soposquare.com as PegCityFan mentioned above ^

They always had a hotel on their website as well as their PDF. Check their website. It's still there. Video has three buildings.

Ya I seen that this morning. I always thought the two taller buildings were office and the other was the parkade. Seems there will be an abundance of hotels to be going up over a short time frame.

CMHR is estimating one million visitors a year for the first ten years.

That's impressive.

My comment wasn't meant to be negative, just the fact there will be lots of hotels going up in the near future.

If anything should be subsidized in the hopes of having people living downtown, the supermarket should be it. One of those chicken-egg problems, people don't want to move downtown because there isn't a supermarket, supermarket can't set up because there aren't enough residents. Government could fill the gap there for a supermarket as residents move in, most likely with tax breaks.

Seems to me sopo updated the text of the brochure but not the renderings. There was no hotel originally. Can anyone confirm this, I'll see if I saved a copy of the original at home.

the rear building shown in the rendering (the one without frontage on Graham) was always planned as a hotel I believe (I remember when the plan came out many people felt it should be residential instead..)

Seems to me, a few of these developers, including Crestwin, want to keep details hidden till they are absolutely sure they are moving ahead. I believe this tactic is being used to keep the competitors at bay and always wondering. Great business move IMO.

I seen a floor plan of a condo unit for One Portage & Main. I've seen many from Vancouver and all I can say about this one is that it has dated ideas and sucks, it does not cater to the wants of people spending a million bucks.
No bathtub in the ensuite.
I study that makes the kitchen the size of one on a small sailboat.
Crappy living room layout.

They better rethink their plans or better yet start working with a professional high end condo layout planner.
