Winter schedules are starting to show in the early stages with a few airlines for YEG.
Looks like Sunwing is adding Ixtapa with a Thursday flight in December and bumps up CUN flying to 5-6 flights per week up from 4 last winter.
Transat looks to be scaling back CUN in frequency to two flights per week but operated by larger 332 equiptment for the season as opposed to the 310 as they are beginning to phase the type out of the fleet.
Again very early to see what the winter will produce and what schedules will be tweeked.

Transat has been reducing capacity in their system for a year or two now. It looks like Edmonton will have the same number of weekly departures this winter as they had last winter, but the mix of aircraft and whatnot is a bit different; for example, the Varadero flight is now shared with Winnipeg but is now on a larger aeroplane. The second Puerto Vallarta flight is gone, but a new destination, Manzanillo, has now appeared. Transat's upcoming schedule has always been difficult to figure out in advance, and may change several times before the season starts.
Westjet has the same schedule in the system as last year. Since Sunquest has withdrawn from the at-risk business I presume Westjet Vacations has picked up the full risk this year.
Sunwing is where the expansion is. They have now surpassed Transat as the major player in the Sun Vacations business from Edmonton. The Ixtapa flight is new, as is a sixth weekly to Cancun during the fat part of the season. In addition, it seems the Cayo Coco flight is no longer shared with Calgary. Another interesting development is that Sunwing has been touting to travel agents a new destination in Grand Bahama, to which Edmonton has been named a departure city. Packages have not yet been loaded into the system, so this may be dependent on some government deal s going through.
Devotees of this thread may take interest in the fact that Sunwing has scheduled more departures from Edmonton than from either Calgary or Vancouver. Even Transat flies as many or more Sun flights from Edmonton as from those places. There are many reasons why airlines put flights here rather than there; the reasons are seldom the ones they state publicly.
