We do see nuggets that are thrown out to the nonhubs such as LHR to YEG and FRA to YOW so I still have hope that we will someday land another European route.
My question is what will be required for us to land that FRA flight - passenger loads /freight volumes/metal/population size/perceived competition from another source?
My personal opinion is nothing will happen untill AC is pushed by competition.

AC will never be pushed by competition. AC still maintains a leadership role in almost all categories: domestic, US and Int'l. And they will for a very long time.
But that aside, from a YEG perspective, look how United has been quite successful in the Edmonton market. The question is how can you emulate this success story.
It's just too tiring to keep debating the same issues regarding AC's presence in Edmonton.
So, YEG should look for new partners that are willing to be true partners and the rest will take care of itself. Just look at the successful story of Baltimore/Washington Int'l Airport (BWI). It used to be a major airport for US Airways, but it kept getting downgraded until management recognized realized that they need a new partner. So they worked with Southwest. And now BWI is the largest station for Southwest on the East coast.
My only hope is for the EIA management team to be actively seeking new partners like United that are willing to give us a chance and stop calling on AC.
