Good to know, thanks Tuffy. Had a 40 minute wait in the morning for customs as its the second last "early" morning departure from YEG.

Still hoping for AA/US and Delta to expand a little more in YEG.

New hotel is a little less impressive than I'd have hoped, but I will wait until it is fully complete.

Hotel was not Impressive when renderings came out. Was at airport the other day...and its still not Impressive. Looks oddly out of place!! The positive here is that it is connected to the Terminal.

Daryl Katz's new Bombardier Global Express XRS jet is due for delivery this week. The airplane will be based at Signature flight support.

The architectural detail that was to be there is missing - it looks cheap and unfinsihed based on views from the live webcam. Hopefully something will be done about it...by EIA as they allowed this development to proceed and MUST take some responsibility for the design fit as it is linked to the terminal. Surely there were design guidelines!

Did he buy it new? or is it got miles on it?

The Global Express XRS (rebranded as Global 6000) is an improved version of the original aircraft, (announced on October 6, 2003 during the NBAA Convention at Orlando (Florida)) offering higher cruise speed, increased range, improved cabin layout and lighting. It is reported that the letters have no significance, but were chosen by focus groups simply to improve the brand image. The range increase is achieved by addition of a 1,486 lb (674 kg) fuel tank at the wing root. The Global Express XRS entered service in early 2006. The unit price is estimated to be $45.5 million (US). Bombardier claims it takes 15 minutes less to fuel the XRS than the original model thanks to improved computer systems and mechanical refinements.

Wow. So north of $45M 2006 Dollars. I wonder what the seating is and how the inside looks...likely customized for a billionaire.

In addition United mainline service to DEN starts tomorrow using a A319. The flight will operate 6 times weekly alongside United Express CRJ-200/700's and EMB-170's keeping the route at 3 times daily.

On a side note I see YEG has a new webcam facing the new section of the South Terminal from what I assume is the new Tower. Pretty good view on the new cam!

About time! This is only about 10 years late! These guys where slowly being pushed out of the FBO scene as they really had little to no hanger space. The staff where atrocious (fuellers). Hopefully they can turn things around with the new expansion. They are now also the new full time home to Sunwest's YEG base.

Where was the Sunwest's YEG base before? Is that the feeder airline for United?

Sunwest is currently using the Executive terminal. They are a charter airline, ie, EnCana uses them to fly workers in/out of Ft.Nelson, B.C.

Sunwest aviation not be confused with (Skywest) is a Calgary based charter airline that operates a mixed fleet ranging from corporate jets to Beech 1900's.
They operate a base at YEG aswell and sometime ago purchased Edmonton based Alta flights who was based at the Shell aerocentre FBO.

Saw this flight take off today as I was driving into the city from the airport. What would the reason that it flew to Ottawa from here? Given that there's no previous history of it, is it a charter of some kind?

Canadian Military charter. Should be another tomorrow aswell, in addition a Canadian CC-150 (Military A310) also operated to YOW today from YEG for the same purpose.
