I'm curious to see what this one looks like. I'm not sure it's the best location for apartments but I'm glad to see there will be retail on the main floor.

Not sure what to think of the colour choice right now, but at least it's better than that greyish tone before.

Sorry if that's been posted before, but I have also come across this article from Metro News (free - unlike Paywall-infested EJ), which shows the interior layout of DECL's new place: http://metronews.ca/news/edmonton/483178/downtown-edmonton-community-league-to-open-new-space/

Where does the DECL keep all the soccer equipment?

Interesting... That's the parking lot adjacent to Chicago Deep Dish, is it not? Nice to see that filled in.

Well written. The comments about Jane Batty's view will not matter as she is not running. Let us hope a more elightened candidate is elected in this Ward - and this project should be front in centre at the Pubic Candidate Forum for this Ward where the public can speak to candidates about the City Planning Process and "The Ways" and failure to acheieve this on what is being proposed for this project. Some commitment should be sought from leading Candidates to ensure this developer and its "consulting team" are reigned in.

I think apartments/condos above is agreat idea. That will provide density in the area and control...of the types of businesses that will be supproted to open. Whyte needs more than a crush of 18-25 years at 10pm headed to bars to survive.

Yup, Gooch doesn't have a good track record. May most likely go back to EDC for a comprehensive redesign, like many of his past projects.

I fail to understand the approach this guy and other firms take when it comes to trying to get approvals for buildings that clearly do not meet the required guidelines. It's got to cost a fortune to redesign and extend the approval process.

When I submit drawings I attempt to get them approved on first submisisons. If there are any alternative solutions from what the city/town usually approves I discuss with them before hand and try to resolve it. Maybe there is more of a difference when it comes to architecture and engineering than i can comprehend... But if I got in a habbit of always submitting something i know has no chance of getting approved i can certainly gaurantee that it's going to effect how quickly future projects work there way through the system.

39 dwellings? How many floors would that be? Goodness knows I wouldn't want to be on the first 5 floors. Glad to see something going in there but it'd be mighty noisy.

A not good track record is an understatement:

You're asking the wrong person. You'll have to ask Cold about that.
