Entrance looks nice... tower looks a little wide. Seems somewhat out of place with the area; but perhaps thats a good thing.

Per WAM, there is no stucco being used on this tower.

BK has a bunch of newer hires, perhaps that had an impact?
Or that WAM paid them more and gave them a lot of direction in terms of what they wanted to see from the building.

I put a lot of the lacklustre designs of their past on the shoulders of the developers.

It looks pretty good, but to me, they've just taken exterior treatment fads that we've seen on other buildings and applied them to the same massing that the tower has always had.

Location is nice, though

Location is phenomenal, only issue really is rush hour ingress/egress.

A huge part is how asymmetrical the building is, therefore it looks completely different when you look at it from various angles.

One sad thing about the Symphony is losing those old buildings. I always assumed it had historical designation or something.

Huh/!?!? They are retaining both the house and the apartment.

Are you talking about the buildings on the north or south side of the site? The north ones are going while the south ones are staying.

Sorry...yes...you guys are correct. It wasn't quite clear at first from the renderings that the old Parkview and the house were being kept.

Podium on Symphony looks awkward, but I don't know how I'd change it :/ I'm sure it'll look better in person.

Speaking of Parkwood, I've seen a couple billboards from Parkwood Homes around town advertising their infill custom build services. http://www.parkwoodmasterbuilder.com/infillHomes/index.html Interesting as there is an increasing demand for this in mature neighbours as of late.

^ I wouldn't doubt it. 7-8 years ago in Alberta Ave/ Parkdale we'd see more of the low end builders putting up spec houses, now we're seeing some of the more popular builders doing a lot of much nicer product.

I was driving around yesterday cleaning up signs after our community league garage sale, and counted no less than a dozen new houses being built, most of them already sold, most of them of much higher quality than we've seen in the past

REMINDER - Super Saturday is this coming Saturday!

While Al Fresco is taking a hiatus for a year, we are not! Join us again this year for the kick-off to ‘Super Saturday’ and the Centennial Block Party the by starting your day with some pancakes and sausages!

$2 breakfast, all proceeds will go to help with the renovations to our new Downtown Community Hall.

This year’s breakfast will take place again at the intersection of 104 Street and 102 Avenue from 8:30 am to 11:00 am.

We’ll be off the street in time for the Pride Parade 2013 to start at noon on 102 Avenue. Stay and enjoy the rest of the day at the City Market 9-3, and Centennial Block Party in the evening!

The Centennial Block Party is 4:30-9pm and will feature a BBQ, salsa dancing, patios, 100 balloon release for the 100th Anniversary of 8 of 4th Street Promenade’s heritage buildings in the past year or so, and more! At 8pm the party moves indoors to Mercer Tavern with live music from Russ Dawson throughout the evening and Josh Johnson starting at 9pm!

Food for the pancake breakfast is generously donated by Sobey’s Urban Fresh, our tireless community partner!

Interesting to note that we should start to see how startling the contrast is between the exterior quality of the Pearl and that of the two Illuminadas next to it.

The Illuminadas will have looked like sh*t once the Pearl is done. It's all relative, right?
