Unique Whyte Avenue property up for sale

The piece of vacant lot on 105 Street and Whyte Avenue has been put up for sale by Esso.

However, their asking price may keep many buyers out of the running.

“It’s listed at 7 million 75 thousand which represents just about $235 per square foot,” realtor Jeff McCammon said.

He explained that the land, owned by Esso, has undergone significant cleanup efforts to make it fit for resale.

Manu2, KR, Arena highrise portions, Ultima Encore, Foxes, more Stationlands... if all this actually gets built, Edmonton's highrise footprint will pretty much DOUBLE in size within the next ten years. Sounds kind of unbelievable, but I'm very optimistic and excited.

For almost 60 years, the humble little bridge that connects west Edmonton with the downtown sat unappreciated and unacknowledged, even as it allowed thousands of commuters to travel busy Stony Plain Road from west to east and back again.

Last month, when the city closed the bridge for major refurbishment, people suddenly recognized its importance. And they had lots of time to ponder it, snarled in traffic...

The Farmers Market is well aware of the cleaning issues. There were far more vehicles that we had to tow on saturday than in previous years and as a result areas got missed by the sweepers.

I don't think Mandel has any political capital left. I am sad to see him go, though... always enjoyed meeting with him, he knows my boss well & we had a nice lunch at the Courthouse cafeteria one time, & he helped us out a lot with the Cromdale hotel redevelopment.

I am not so sure who should succeed him. I certainly don't want Kerry to win that seat. I don't like Don... seems greasy to me. Kim might be okay but she comes across really shrill.

We had the conversation with Shoppers and IBI about getting the entrance moved to the corner... no dice as they feel that the majority of the traffic will be drive-in. Other than that I think it'll serve nicely

I'm voting for the strongest candidate against him, even if I don't agree with their political leanings. Kerry did nothing on Council, he comes across as greasy and an a-hole, and has the backing of the Wildrose.

But at least he's smart enough to know that blowing up the arena deal would cost the city a lot of money, which is why he said he wouldn't revisit it if reelected. Although his "listen to the people" BS schtick could potentially give him an excuse to nix it if a plebiscite vote goes against it.
