Can that glass go up any slower?? Lol... Nonetheless, it is good to see; soon the pearl will be the jewel of Oliver followed by some high rise residential rivals.

Yup, if there's one guy you want to take advice from about how to win a mayoral race in Edmonton, it's David Dorward!

^ You mean like how he was going to last month? Or how we were supposed to know by the end of last year? It will be nice if he finally tells what his plans are, but i'm not holding my breath.

The schedule of his announcement to me was contingent on the arena deal being done. Fingers crossed he will run again.

I would be happy if he did...but it has been a bitch of year for him moving the arena and airport files forward. The CCA airport file remains incomplete...as a motion stating the date of closure has not been made (I think).

Subject: sidewalk closure on 101 St south of Jasper Ave - First & Jasper taking too long

Dear Councillor Batty,

I am concerned about the lengthy closure of the east sidewalk along 101 Street south of Jasper Ave.

For the past 3 months now, the sidewalk has been closed to accommodate the installation of outside paneling on the First & Jasper building. For the past month or so, this work has slowed down to almost non-existent with just a few spots remaining for the paneling, and yet the sidewalk has remained closed.

With this closure plus with the intermittent closures across the street due to the streetscaping project, I don't think these unnecessary hindrances to pedestrian traffic are acceptable. Not when both sidewalks along 101 St are heavily used by transit riders, hotel guests, students, residents and workers in the area.

I want to know why can’t the sidewalk be reopened if there’s no work happening at First & Jasper? If there’s a small amount of paneling left, why can’t that work be done on a weekend? When are they supposed to finish the paneling so that the sidewalk is opened again?

Thank you for listening.

Downtown farmers market in full swing and incredibly busy. Great feel. Shame on the city once again for not having downtown streets aves cleaned by now, simply unacceptable. I heard more than a few people talk about how disgusting the streets were. Yes they brought a sweeper recently, but there were a lot of spaces missed on 104st and 102ave was untouched.

Can someone please explain this to me? I am sick and fucking tired of caring.

I quite like the T-shaped layout of the City Market. Maybe once Fox gives back access to the sidewalk it can be a + shaped layout.

Agree, just have to move the one food truck off the SE corner to make it flow better. Brought some first timers with me and they were pleasantly in awe

I went for a long walk this afternoon and caught the Pearl from several angles, including close-up. Here are my photos from today.

Gorgeous shots - thank you. You really showcased some excellent details of the structure, I appreciate it a lot more now.

The skin is stunning. So looking forwards to seeing this tower gleam in the sunlight finished.

The curtainwall is looking better as it goes up. We do need a nice solid rain though.

I agree, this would be a great way to expand the market to a larger, more regional market a la Strathcona and St. Albert. Might as well utilize 102 Ave between 105th and 103rd to the best of their ability as it's gonna be closed anyway.
