Yet another big blank beige wall. I remember someone mentioning that Claridge does not own the Dworkin furs site, but can anyone remind me who does? I really do not want the Dworkin building to be replaced with another 28 storey beige tower.
There will be a building going up beside it. One would not leave the side of the building with no windows if this were not the case.....unless you are on drugs or something.
To that point, the first thing (an extremely obnoxious) delivery man said upon entry into my Claridge townhouse once was "whoever designed this place was on drugs!"

Yes, because the 28th through 35th (etc.) storeys of a building impact people nearby THE MOST! Seriously, are these people birds? Above a certain height - downtown, no less - no one can even get a good sense of height. 18 storeys, 27, 40 - when you're on the street, it don't matter.
I know this would never happen thanks to Claridge cheapness, but they could do something with those GIANT GREY WALLS, like commission some public art or something. It's a huge canvas waiting to be exploited!

Makes me wonder about the type of quality that is going to go in the ICON.
If you're going to applaud Claridge for pushing the envelope, then be sure to applaud all builders pushing the boundaries for height restrictions - Broccolini, Soho, Richcraft, Charlesfort, etc.... But don't applaud Claridge for the "wonders" they'll do yet - based on their history you'll be disappointed. They build very poor and unimaginative buildings that look awful after a few years of completion. As a very proud Ottawan I'll never forgive them for the monstrosity they built/building on Lett St. (when you've just finished a beautiful drive along the river, you're smacked in the face with this mustard stain) and the twin towers (soon to be quadruplets) with the white plastic railings as you drive into downtown off the Queensway. I applaud builders like Charlesfort who not only push the boundaries of height restrictions, but also design and build gorgeous buildings.
One more thing; the railings at CPI and CPII are painted silver aluminum. Not sure what you mean by white plastic?
