This is exactly the case when I was told by the construction Manager they would be renovating both locations, i asked about the size of the Northside One changing, and he said it was not even being considered due to lack of high sales at that location.
I can't give comment regarding Canadian Tire but I would imagine they are in a similar situation. Earlier this year I was told that if they could have foreseen the Sales Numbers of Gross Profit vs Expenses, The Kent's Buildings Supplies Would not have been built yet or maybe at all. It has not gone the way they had planned.
The Walmart on the Northside is more pleasant to go in on the peak of the Holiday shopping season than the Southside one is at its slowest times of year.
I think and hope one day it will turn around, but in the meantime opening a Business on the Northside is a tough sell unless your McDonalds or Time Hortons. Its why your likely never see any type of retail business take over the Old Canadian Tire or Zellers. I realize it would be nice but not going to happen
