AA flew there own flights from DFW via YYC using a 727-100 then a MD-80 before dropping YEG.

UA had 727-200's from SFO and DEN (not sure of the exact years)

And my mistake it was CO who flew from Houston with 727-100's back in the 80's ( I was forgetting they were separate entities back then.)

We even had the original frontier flying from DEN with 737-200's back in the 80's.

GOA is shifting its Flight Services to EIA and using Signiture Flight Services Hangar. Flights are to start next week.

Baffles me that they can link YEG to pretty much every hub they have (except Washington) and everyone else just sits back and watches...

Interesting fact is UAL used to serve YEG back in the 80's aswell with 727-200's from Denver and Houston.

I would say in recent history as of 2002 United has been the best but they didn't do much Edmonton before. Delta and Northwest did for a long time. United is currently making huge gains here thanks in part to air Canada's code sharing. It will be interesting to see how west jets new code shares increase our connectivity.

I am not familiar with Signature...are they owned locally, franchise or what? What facilities do they have for a fleet (GoA) of planes? Does this mean that GoA does not need its own hanger? Is this temp? Etc, etc.

GOA is maintaining its hanger at CCA for a while longer, but all passenger loading and unloading will be done at YEG. When their planes are not in use they fly them back to the hanger at CCA.

I believe they've got a couple of new(er) model Beech 200's, a B350, and a Dash 8-100.

Signature flight support is a U.S based chain of FBO's with locations around the world. Edmonton is its second Canadian location with the other being in Montreal. It's also the same FBO that is home to Aurora jet and it's corporate fleet. Daryl Katz new global express jet will be based at signature when it's delivered in June.

There are currently three FBO's at YEG.
-signature flight support.
-Shell aerocentre.
-Executive flight centre.

North concorse will be getting upgraded, you just won't see it for a while. Mostly asbestos abatement and hvac replacement. I believe it is just going for tender in the next month or two.

The US airways decrease for the summer is just seasonal, I see the return to two daily flights resuming again in the fall according the US airways website.

When I was doing work in Yakutsk, it would have been nice to have a direct flight. not the 2 days travel it was. Last time I saw the IL76 was there. it was the standard transport in the region.

I believe this is the beast in the forgound.

Apparently this one has the upgraded engines on it. I've heard several of the older IL-76's in the past and the old critters have a very distinct sound, maybe my favorite!

As per twitter it's currently parked at the cargo village and may depart this evening or early tomorrow.
