I saw 8202 on the 72 this AM. It was on the trip that left Centre St @ 40th Av NW (eb) at about 0705, if that will help you locate it on the schedule. (Unfortunately I was waiting for the 73).

Are the NG ones marked in any way indicating they are NG?

I don't know if they are clearly marked, but if they are New Flyer, they would be C40LFR models--and you would see the difference right away compare to other buses.

http://www.apta.com/resources/statistics/pages/ridershipreport.aspx

Fourth quarter ridership is up by 5%, however this was not enough to push the LRT daily weekdy ridership above 300,000. I thought the West LRT would be able to do this, hopefully we'll see it during 2013.

Ridership comparisons are hard. Not only was the West LRT only open for three of 13 weeks during the quarter, but the number of holidays was very different; this year, Xmas Eve-Boxing Day and NYE were all weekdays and last year only Boxing Day was.

Not only that, but without a tap card system or turnstiles, ridership has some vagueness to it. You can't count passengers on a busy C-Train very easily, and the farebox only represents a portion of your ridership; many riders use a transit pass (and UPass riders don't even have a choice to buy the pass; at least you have to expect you'll be riding transit pretty frequently to buy an adult pass). Of course, I assume CT uses a consistent method, so the year-over-year numbers should be pretty good.

A lot of these problems would disappear if CT made the able-bodied get off only through the rear door as is the norm in many other cities. That's why city buses have had two doors since time immemorial.

A lot of what problems? And CT DOES recommend that people depart from rear and as in "many other cities" a lot of people still don't.

The plans for Tuscany LRT station are being presented at CPC tomorrow. It looks good. I hope for two things:
1. The Eamon Camp building finds a new owner and is used creatively on or near the station lands.
2. The owners of all of the large private single dwelling parcels near the Rocky Ridge side of the station along Eamon Road (west and east of Rocky Ridge Road)/Royal View Crescent get their greed on as there exists an awesome opportunity to create a great new TOD village all along that strip.

Presented for information only I hope, as it would be pretty hard to significantly change the design now.

Its a DL permit, and for information only. You can see whats going to CPC here. Essentially theres still no final decision on the building at this time.

Regarding the announcement that Edmonton is getting $250M to kick start a P3 build of their SE LRT, it will be interesting to see how P3 works for an LRT line.

If I'm reading this document right, Edmonton kicks in $800M, Feds, $250M, of the total $1800M, with the 30 year payback of the remaining $850M. I'd assume Calgary is going to be watching this one very closely. By the time the line opens, we might even have enough money to try building our N-SE line with a P3 if things go well for Edmonton.

The next phase, our west lrt, will likely be a similar P3.
