Looks like both United flights from IAH (flight 506 and 596) are operating with a A320 and A319 today. In addition sunday see's the third mid day flight added using a A319. All of tomorrow's flights From IAH will use Airbus equiptment 2xA319's and a A320.

Wow - I take it the flights must be full for United to do that. Would this be a correct assessment?
The third flight only operates on Saturday and Sunday for a short period. Initially it appeared that 737's would be operating the remainder of the flights. But now it appears its just a temporary shift in metal as it goes back to 737's in a short time. The route seems to be alternating alot in the last few months between the 735's, 73G's, 738's and 739's. Its a matter of scheduling as per demand.

I was going to question their so called "statement" on their facebook page. Seems to me a couple years back you posted on this forum that some icelandic minister of something or other made an official statement that Icelandair will be providing service to Edmonton, yet such a statement could not be found, and nothing ever came of it. I am just wondering the context of this recent statement.

I guess we have no way of knowing. The very strange and poorly worded statement is post number 4532 on page 227 (2010). you posted another on 4644.
We'll see what happens in August. There are people who would know whether or not those two posts were BS or not. So, I am sorry if I question some of the things that you post.

Tuffyy, regular posters here know that you have the best of intentions. I read the post on C2E as most on here have. Thank you for sharing what you can and always keeping our spirits high.

Very true, thanks for your input. And if August should come and they pass YEG up, please don't blame the person who is simply posting something stated by the airline. It's there for everyone to see and I believe "greatestx" actually has it posted from the airlines page for all to see... Remember "considering" doesn't always mean "were coming"... I certainly do hope the folks at YEG are on top of this one and are working with the carrier...
Other tidbits, UAL has moved to the A319 and A320 on YEG-IAH for the next bit looking at flights over the next few days both daily's showing either 319 or 320 and off course the weekend third flight shows a 319 aswell.
Air Canada's Dash-8-Q400's begin making debut's at YEG tomorrow on a few of the YYC and YMM rotations.
Spending cuts in the United States have Edmonton International Airport officials concerned about potential travel delays.
Automatic spending cuts enacted by U.S. congress Friday have already affected staffing with US Customs and Border Protection Services at airports across Canada, including Edmonton.
“(The cuts) have been initiated, and we’re going to have to look and see how they will affect passengers. We just don’t know how it will right now,” said EIA spokeswoman Traci Bednard, adding peak travel times are approaching.
“Obviously of concern is spring break coming up. That’s a very busy time for us. The other thing I would say is US-Canada traffic is extremely strong, and has been over the past few years. It’s a really important part of our market that’s grown every year.
“So any potential impact on those passengers is of concern, just because it’s such a significant portion of our traffic.”
Of the 6.5 million passengers the EIA serves every year, Bednard said about one million are going between the Canada-US border.
A US Customs public inquiry window at the EIA was closed on Friday, with a sign citing “US Budget Sequestration” as the reason for closure. Bednard said different ports have been affected in different ways.
At this point, she said there is little airport officials can do other than continue to watch the developments south of the border and see what happens.
“We’re going to watch to see whether there’s an impact to passengers, and if we’re noticing things we’ll try to communicate that. For example, ask people to come early if required and that kind of thing,” she said.
Bednard said it would not be a bad idea for travelers to give themselves a little extra time at the airport if they plan to travel in the coming days, but that it’s too early to say for certain whether wait times will be increased.
The cuts will also impact those stopping over in the US for other international flights.
“If we have a million passengers that are traveling across our border, that’s important quality of life for people traveling for holidays. But it’s also really important trade and commerce,” Bednard said.
The US = cutting nose to spite face. I'm not convinced of the logic to these cuts. The repercussions <could easily> outweigh the "benefit" to the spending cut. Piss off passengers regularly, they no go.

Thanks for the information on Icelandair, last time it was from a minister of tourism, this time it seems someone at the actual airline may have leaked something. I have know doubt YEG could support that flight, would be a great fit.
Also interesting news on UAL. They have had that rotation in the sked for a while, they continue to play with that schedule. Nice to see some Q400's up here at YEG.
