I don't think they'll have a hard time finding customers.

I would not count too much on pedestrian traffic over the Bank St Bridge. It's heavily used by car traffic during the morning and afternoon rush hours. It will be even more so with hockey/football/soccer games. People will probably want to drive to go to the LCBO and their choice will be to drive over the Bank St Bridge to go to Lansdowne or over the Billings' Bridge to go to the shopping centre where Loblaws is and Target will be next year. One stop shopping.
Moreover, Farm Boy, Canadian Tire and gas stations are two minutes up the road.
Just a few minutes more, on the way to South Keys and WalMart, Future Shop,Staples and the movies, there is a popular LCBO Vintage store catering to most of the Ottawa South catchment by means of Hunt Club
As for the pedestrian bridge over the Canal, which will be years from now, if ever, it is situated on the very western edge of Old Ottawa East and is far from the historical central core along Main St. further north. It will be handy for free on-street parking for football games but not so much as access to a shopping venue. Maybe on a good day in the summertime but certainly not at this time of the year.
I don't see much at Trinity's Lansdowne Park that would attract Christmas shoppers, for instance. Nothing unique so far.
Old Ottawa East has few stores and no LCBO, no Beer Store and no grocery store. The residents probably drive over Pretoria Bridge for food, booze and beer as well as cash (Canada Trust) on Isabella. I don't see them criss-crossing over their neighbourhood on foot to purchase the same things. On a good day, they may walk over for a game or a movie though.
