They could still use something other than glass. The excuse that in a winter city like calgary we have to have everything open-air because of vandals makes it sounds like we live in Detroit or something.

I swear, this all stems from the movie "fubar" where they showed them breaking the glass out of numerous transit shelters. Even though I was a young puck when I watched that movie, it still pissed me off.....

I think they did it at Southland, Heritage and Chinook too, that style of station seemed to have the most problems.

Ok, I can answer this now. I walked by the station tonight and the openings do have windows; the platforms aren't open to the elements.

Downtown West/Kerby???? Have we not learned lessons from the past in naming stations with two names?!?!? One or the other please! Sheesh! And when the Kerby Centre operations move out to the old Jacques Lodge site, then this station name will be moot. Will they add "Kerby" to the Shaganappi Point station?

^While I agree with your main point, the Kerby name comes not from the Kerby Centre directly, but from the original owner of the adjacent land, George William Kerby.

This was a hot topic in this thread a while ago. I would bet that 100% of the forum agrees with you.

It should just be called 11th ST SW station. If they want to commemorate the original landowner, they could set up an exhibit with the public art budget.

WIGS - your stuff is wayyyy overpriced. One can pick up custom shirts off the Internet for way cheaper. A long-sleeves T with simple text on it for $30 + $5.50 shipping + tax = $37.00 ... and for a business that doesn't even have to pay for a store front. Sheesh!

I agree it should either be one or the other, just like SAIT/Alberta College of Art and Design/Jubilee station should be called either College or Jubilee Station.

Plus, Kerby is a name you can remember. 11th st station gets lost.

Yeah - money in my pocket stays in Calgary also.

Now can we keep the selling t-shirts discussion in the retail thread? If you're selling an LRT station or a house close by, I'd be inclined to let ONE plug slip, but the virtually dozens of posts on the price-inflated shirts is getting to be excessive.

What we need to do is convince CT to come up with a ridiculously long LRT station name. Along the lines of the Hawaiian state fish, the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a.

Then it can be put on merchandise and other touristy goods.
