That is because the earlier 787's assembled are having to have some modifications made to them.

Not design, amenities on a relative scale.

Yeah, YYZ T1 is pretty barren for amenities. I would expect a lot more for a terminal of that size.

That I would agree with. It's a great open design but lacks amenities given how many PAX roll through there.

The number of level changes you need to make just on a normal trip is the thing that annoys me about T1. If you need more than the standard 2 customer levels to get your footprint down, at least make them flow well together.

Before a person is allowed to design a new airport, I hope they are asked to go to Grand Central, one of the first (if not the first) two level transport terminals. Ramps galore, easy to follow flow!

Statoil is in Calgary, and my friend that used to work for them told me they had a corporate shuttle up to their project.

You have to be moving a lot of people to make a flight worth it, and both Norway and Alberta are pretty small markets.

The Grand Central reference is completely without merit. Grand Central only operates a doemstic operation and there is very little requirement to split the traffic.

The reason for T1 multilevel approach was to have maximum flexibility for domestic, transborder, and international operations. The terminal has a very impressive capability of up to 10 swing gates between domestic, transborder, and international.

The multi levels are primarily to allow international gates to be at the end of the pier while transborder gates are along the finger.

Even with domestic only trips you are moving up and down all over the place. T3 has international at the end of the a pier yet doesn't suffer from the same problem.

EDMONTON - The final segment of the Edmonton International Airport’s four-year expansion opened Saturday featuring faster baggage delivery and enticing Oilers, Eskimos and Oil Kings displays for arriving international passengers.

Upstairs in departures, four new restaurants opened — including North America’s first Belgian Beef Cafe outlet — along with five new stores, all part of a longer promenade which attaches to new gates opened previously.

“We have expanded our capacity by 50 per cent in the past four years since the expansion began, and we have the capacity to handle up to 10 million passengers,” said Reg Milley, chief executive of the airport.

That total is expected to be hit by 2020. In the past 12 months about 6.5 million passengers have used the airport, making it the fastest growing in Canada.

The new central tower for airport offices and air traffic control will open later this year, and the major hotel connected to the terminal should be open this spring. Engineering is also underway for a third runway, which will require the soon-to-be-twinned highway to Devon to pass around it.

The rich, green living wall and newly opened boutique pubs of the Edmonton International Airport left traveller Garry Springle in awe.

"I just love the atmosphere of this airport now," he said Saturday, waiting for a flight to Kelowna in the just-opened segment of the international and domestic departure lounge. "I love this living wall, I think it is something we should add at our condo."..

Why would ANYONE waste an hour going west then to turn around and fly back over where you just left from...and this does not include change of airpoprts, planes, baggage, delays etc. Duh...

The business product yes, but BA does not have the 3 class cabin operating to YYC (which would include the first class). In the beginning they did operate the route with a 3 class 772.
