Maybe the Economist only looks at cities over 1 million. That would not include us. Unless they are using metro areas.

The EIU sells data to companies for HR and other purposes. They include cities that companies are interested in data from if I recall correctly.

So it is pretty arbitrary. Mostly due to international profile and head offices.

As has been explained to me (I had to look into this for business purposes), the survey is primarily directed toward ranking of cities for senior executive types. For large, exec-oriented cities, the rankings are supposed to help be part of the overall mix of variables that goes into determining compensation, and what you have to do to attact/move a senior exec to a particular city.

If a city doesn't have a large enough proportion of senior exec types that could be re-located from other parts of the world to Edmonton, then there's little use in analyzing Edmonton.

Just telling you what I was told, so don't shoot the messenger.

Project on 122 street and Jasper has a pretty big hole now, seems to have happened pretty fast no? No tower in the plans yet for the site?

Reopening the Rossdale fire station would improve response times for downtown and river rescues, but critics question a new city report that says neighbours would welcome the traffic and sirens.

A report released Thursday says 55 per cent of Rossdale residents want a fire hall at the old riverside location.

For that, the report cites three focus groups and participation by 86 residents in a two-question telephone survey...

Tender just closed yesterday for the podium portion I believe. Tower will be phase 2, I think?

The amount of steel going up there is quite something. Drove by a few weeks ago and they were already a story up. Looks like the Bingo Hall and all are gone.

Walmart at Westmount is now moving forward. All that "beautiful" triple5aggregate finished precast paneling is gone. in favour of windows.
