Outside of the context of this forum, 'London' is always referred to as 'London, Ontario' -- even for Canadian news programs -- simply because 'London' is a name already taken by a very old, prestigious city in the U.K..
It would be nice if London, Ontario would modify its name slightly so that the city's name may stand alone on the international stage. Even something as simple as 'New London' or perhaps even 'Nouveau London' -- which would be embracing its early canuckian heritage during colonial times when a small number of French migrants were farmers throughout Upper Canada, as far south as Detroit.
