Mention of Manu 2 again... is there something new and factual to be known about? :-)

By the way, I'm spending time working in Commerce Place at the moment and the floor plate is absolutely huge... before I was skeptical about Manu 2 supporting a post-secondary faculty, but the floor plate on Commerce Place makes me think it would work just fine.

This was brought up on C2E, and I'm curious as well.

http://www.edmontonjournal.com/news/Gallery+Quarters+proposed+projects/6284913/story.html

This was tagged as being the Dub hotel.

And so was this one - is this rear of the hotel? First render?

great story about The Quarters! nice to see they could let developers build up to 45 storeys on some buildings. now that's what i'm talkin' about! all in all, it looks like a decent plan to redevelop the so called "drag area" of Edmonton.

I was wondering the same thing myself. Cannot be the same; one renders depicts about thirteen floors while the other has four. Let's all gather round and pray the second one does not get built....

"99ave, my home"

lol was going to mention so but didn't want to sound like a creep. Noticed your blue glass balcony in a pic you posted of the federal building. Your home is in dire need of a neighbour structure.

Probably mislabeled. Not the back, that's for sure. I have seen all 4 sides.

I know you can't always divulge, but I may as well ask. Are the other elevations of the same quality as the released render, or is it something we should be worried about on the LRT side?

^^ Because it's ugly and looks like social housing ?

On topic, McCauley league wins right to appeal a project in their neighborhood, Judge chastizes planning dept. and SDAB for failing to do their due dilligence. Both entities need an overhaul.

Great news for McCauley, though I do have some concern about what will happen with the nearly completed building. I'd hate to see it sit vacant, though better that than another home for wayward addicts (plenty of those already, thanks!). Hopefully it can be retrofitted into something that might actually benefit the community

Very cool news:

The City is planning on building a model of downtown for display in the NE corner of City Hall. The model will include buildings and transportation routes (existing and planned) in the downtown core.

Interesting case to follow, but to assert that both 'failed to do their due diligence' is simply incorrect, you should know better.

I cannot comment much more on it than that, but let me just say that this was a very challenging appeal for a plethora of reasons.

I will/have to leave it at that.
