Mandel isn't going to shock us. He said "they" have some exciting news, and he didn't want to steal their limelight.

So whom-ever it is, they'll announce at their will. Could be today, could be never.

That was my estimation as well... or about the same size as the proposed Melcor tower adjacent to Enbridge...

what I'm reading though is that they need more... does that mean they would take 650k sqft of space total?

Not sure of their requirements.

Melcor Centre for reference

With their current build outs I believe they will occupy 35 floors of space in various buildings. Not sure on the S.F. But 450 sounds low

I have a hard time seeing Melcor building anything like that unless it is commissioned by a 3rd party. Melcor seems to play in the B class market

Which aren't really in keeping with most good-sized resource firms these days, where 20-25K + plates are more desirable. I think that Enbridge's lease in the Enbridge Tower has a ways to go yet, also. (mid-2019?) Would be nice to see them kick something off in Edmonton, though.

"where 20-25K + plates are more desirable."

Sure, but those are often hard to come by in this marketplace. I'd be curious to know the avg plate here, but have to think for A/AA it is in the 18000 range?

Holy crap! My first time seeing the Melcor proposal. Nice looking building! How likely is it to be built?

Hearsay. At least that's what I'm hearing from C2E.

Well it is that time of the year again. What are the top 5 projects you look forward to be announced or shovel in the ground in 2012?

1. Arena and Entertainment District
2. Manulife 2, er AIMCO Tower?
3. RAM
4. Norquest Expansion
5. Kelly Ramsey redo + hotel

From SDM on C2E

"Beit Horim, a Jewish non-profit organization, received $6 million to create 55 of those spaces in a new facility 15 years in the works, which will be built on the corner of 119th Street and Jasper Avenue, directly east of the Beth Shalom Synagogue.
The organization hopes to break ground on the project by the end of next summer, said acting executive director Lesley Jacobson."
