I don't see this happening at all, isaidso. We'll see a taller, denser skyline that will be all the more impressive rising above the water, and more new tall stuff poking out from the north. Again, you'll see different aspects of the skyline from different vantage points - even out on the lake. And we don't even know what the new twin towers will ultimately look like at this point, especially in terms of cladding quality/colour/reflection.

We'll have to see how it shakes out.

Southcore will be amazing. Just based on the crazy height density alone, outside of New York, unheard of in North America.

BTW: Toronto is almost at 30 towers over 200 meters, built/ under-construction/ proposed

There are 23 towers 200 metres+ right now cal... and 72 towers 150 metres+

At this rate Toronto will actually catch up with Chicago in terms of sheer numbers in only a decade, but its doubtful this building boom will last that long...

That gives us 29 - so it is possible we can do it.

The original design for the Ten York tower had a triangular “footprint” to correspond with the site. But the city expressed concern that the building was “too broad” on the east-west axis and “not a good fit with the neighbouring buildings,” Wallman says. “They thought a more compact, square-shaped building would be more appropriate.”

I'm about to lose my shit! "Yes let's deal with the confines of a uniquely shaped and cramped site by building yet another boring f*%king box". Holy hell, a triangular building would have been an instant landmark.

I agree. Bayshore Gardens, although it looks nice, is a complete waste of space and very suburban feeling. The Harbour Green towers are better but could have been spaced a bit closer together without any negative effects.

This is very minor news but I have it on good information that a certain developer (which I can't name) is planning a ~40 storey tower in Yorkille for 2013.

I know... groundbreaking stuff.

I'm definiely most excited about Synergy and the Westbank/Bjarke Ingels rumours. They sound like they could be landmark projects.

Well actually Eau de Soilel is One 65 to 70 storey tower, and another 45 to 55 storey tower.

So probably only one of them will be over 200 meters. - But yes, I did forget to include that one.

A 75-storey flatiron would've looked absurd.

However, if it were something like the Shard, but in a more triangular shape...that would have been stunning (ie. this sort of shape).

A signature Bjarke Ingels project will definitely revolutionize the cityscape, just like how Absolute totally changed the game in 'Sauga. Sexy Danish architecture will also hopefully inspire some more innovative and refreshing designs among local firms on residential architecture.

Sorry, when I said "many more rumours", that was an exaggeration, but there are several others. Plus, when the hell is Signature going to be a concrete proposal? Cityplace, including Signature, is one of the first Toronto developments I heard about when I started perusing these skyscraper websites over ten years ago.

i agree!! that's what i've been saying the whole time! make better use of this triangular site! instead of that stupid little boot thing they made instead.

and those twin towers still aren't the most appealing, but at least one is a cylinder lol!!!... a wee bit better than i thought.
