I was just down at 1 York:

These towers are not boxes.

One is a box

The other is a cylinder.

Looks like one tower is a special design and has been accorded special prominence in the site plan through placement on a custom built podium, this treatment was not afforded for the box tower.

North and South Elevation photos coming shortly.

even still, in concept this is horrible ^^^
both straight towers, identical in height, boring, and so prominent on the skyline... the city approves of this?!?!.. this is a rare scenario where i DON'T want a very tall development to go forward.. at least not looking like this.

What can be discerned of the design hitherto is fine with me, mang. I like tall and thin, and wraparound balconies. Thanks for the pic.

i have a feeling you're simply in denial, like a lot of people. "i like boxes"/"mies is good" has always struck me as a reactionary pattern among many a Torontonian.

Personally i think wraparound balconies indicate an extremely unintelligent design, seeing that it addresses varied solar orientations and climatic/ urban conditions in exactly the same way.

The current design is great, but yeah, that would be insanely cool if it was a flatiron shaped tower.

Nothing groundbreaking but I see potential in these elevation drawings. Podium looks interesting, and great to see some curves. The attention to detail in actual product will depend on what architecture firm designed these. Too preliminary for me to really have an opinion on this. But looking forward to detailed renderings, could be a sleek design.

Yeah, no. I don't like them because they're in Toronto; I like them because I like them, though it's too early to make a conclusive judgment. Personal preference, capisce?

I see the resemblance now! That was a great design, one of my favs from back in the day. Definitely brings back nostalgic memories of what could have been for the old FS site. If this is indeed aA, then I'm glad to see this sharp design revived for a newer and larger project.
