The other day I was driving by the corner of 11th and McIntyre and noticed the old 3 storey office building on the SW corner was getting a complete exterior re-do. I believe it wil be all glass. The second, side view shows the old curtain wall.

This together with the new office building next door on the former Coronet Theatre site should really clean up the NW corner of downtown.

The City pays for virtually none of the infastructure in new subdivisions. They require the developers to build it or pay through hectarage and other fees. Most people don't realize this when they see nice parks and tree-lined boulevards with fancy lighting and decorative walls. The City pays for none of this, not even sewer lift stations, roads or sidewalks. Eventually the City takes over maintenance.

Agreed this should be a big improvement and will give the building a more modern look, plus with the new office building going in next door it will help clean up that part of Albert, now if only something could be done with the old white building just to the north on Albert, it seems to be in bad shape.

They are planning to move the weigh scales (I don't know where) and it may be safe to say that a large truck stop could be established there.

There are currently 5 approaches onto the trans Canada between Lewvan and Pinky interchange if you count the existing ones at Lewvan and Pinky - five places for collisions. I imagine it would be highly desireable for that stretch of road to be controlled access (ie no vehicles starting onto the TC from a complete stop) and also there appears to be at least one farm yard site that won't be paved over by the project - they need to access a road somewhere - better a service road than the TC. Major highways from Regina to Moose Jaw, Lumsden, and Balgonie should all be controlled access as a starter. Yes, I know money doesn't grow on trees - but I can dream.

Lots of activity downtown on 12th today. They are continuing to install the spaghetti shades on the plaza with scissor lifts, the bases for the twinkle plaza lights were craned in this morning, scaffolding all around Tower 2 for curtian wall repair and mobile crane at Tower 3 installing pedway to Tower 2. The 4 bases for the twinkle lights are metal cone-shaped about 9 ft tall - you can just make them out in the shadows of my crappy phone pics. They are interesting and unique. They are bare metal now, but I assume they are corten steel.

Is the new pedestrian overpass between the hill centre and mosaic tower on a slant? At first I thought it was a curved overpass, but then on second look it seems as if it is angled downwards towards the hill tower. Can someone confirm this?

yes it is angled and then curves where it meets Mosaic so that it can be flush.

This is a non-archtiecture firm on the main floor.
