The 6th floor of T3 is already poured. They are doing a floor about every 2 weeks and accelerating.

The Regina Inn is to be painted. I am guessing white or white in combination with another light colour.

Hey...I love the look of those 'sculptural trees'? in the new plaza space. I think they turned out even better then the conceptual renderings! This looks like it will be an awsome new urban space for Regina...congratulations!

Mayor Pat Fiacco will look to city council Monday for approval on his dream of revitalizing Regina.

The mayor made the announcement Friday as part of an update to the Regina Revitalization project.

On Monday, council will consider a vision and a series of principles to be used as a spring board for future planning for the project.

The project involves two phases; one involves a complete overhaul of north central Regina where the current Mosaic Stadium now sits. Under the plan, 53 acres of land would be transformed into an area of affordable housing, business and high-end residential areas.

The second phase would take 16 years and would see the existing CP Rail yards replaced with a new entertainment complex, which would house the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Businesses, residential areas and other forms of housing would also go in the new site.

Fiacco said Friday his plan for funding the project remains the same, 75 per cent would come from the private sector and 25 per cent from the public purse.

Construction for an entertainment centre is slated to begin in 2013, with completion of the new facility in 2016. Development of the remaining land on the CP Rail site would begin in 2014 and development of the Mosaic Stadium site would begin in 2016.

I was reading through the article posted a couple of pages back about south end development. So phase 2 in Harbour Landing (near Lowe's) is getting a Lancaster Tap House and Clancy's Meat Co. Sounds like Clancy's is quite similar to M&Ms, not a butcher shop. That's too bad. The pub will be a great addition though.

Leon's is supposed to open this fall sometime. I can't find any job listings on their website for Regina aside from Warehouse so I'd guess they are at least a couple of months away. Maybe November?

Any word on what's going in the new strip mall near Rock Creek? I think there's a Sole Man, but empty storefronts otherwise.

I want to know where Fiacco gets his drugs. No way your getting 75% funding for a project like this.

I believe he is refering to the whole project itself, not just the entertainment centre.

Yup. And as far as I know, it's usually private developers that want to build retail/residential not government (some exceptions apply... e.g. affordable housing)

Any idea if we are still talking about a retractable roof.....federal funding will remain elusive to come by.

Any plans on putting any money into Taylor Field (I prefer that name) in the meantime.

Here in Ottawa the Lansdown Park fiasco continues. There will not be an Ottawa team back in the CFL until at least 2016.

Are you kidding me! Private developers want nothing to do with low-income housing unless massive breaks and subsidies are thrown at them. Why do you think they is such a lack of affordable housing? Rental units in general are rarly ideal to build, let alone low yealding units, especially when the land maybe be more vaulube for something else.

Fiacco's figures are wacked, he's out to lunch thinking hes going to get 75% unless hes going to do a kickbacks and switch around with amount to nothing more than looting considerable future P-tax revenues for the City coffers, which essentially is a hidden way to get you and I to pay for these projects. The Feds will kick in money for the Housing, that will get built.

Stadium pumpers need to take a step back.

You should read my post closer before jumping off to a rant

... I said the exception to where government doesn't spend money on residential/commercial is affordable housing... meaning... this is where the government will definitely push the brunt of investment rather than the private sector.

I don't think it's completely out of whack though. Does anyone know the government to private expense ratio for the Grasslands/Harbour Landing? Excluding the Stadium and affordable housing, I'd say the rest of the development will be somewhat similar. There are a few differences of course... the city had to lay out new infrastructure for Grasslands, and that wouldn't have been cheap... the effort wouldn't be as great for the inner-city project,, although there will be some clean-up costs with the rail yard that the grasslands didn't have to contend with.

Yes, I am for the stadium; I'd love to see it built, but there is so much more going on with this project now that is exciting me. The potential of developing yards right next to downtown is huge and I'm very much looking forward to seeing more detailed plans. Depending how it's done, something like this could really alter the character/feel of the city.

Cleanup costs have likely already been calculated out and divided up as part of settling the land deal at the new hub. I'm sure CP hasn't been allowed to walk away scot free.

On the upside, any new stadium built there would be inground to a good degree so when the contaminted soil is removed, there won't be as much fill needed.

Drove out to pink road and Highway 1 this weekend. I thought they had diverted money on the project to the pinkie road interchange. All I saw was some new night time lighting and some new merge lanes. I also noticed that they where not widening Pinkie road, they just building a new road one field over from it. Do you think they will one day connect Gordon road to Pinkie road.

RIP Mr jack Layton there were some views I agreed on some that I did not but still you were a great man and a great leader true to the cause wrong or right and true to the nation you serve. jack Canada salutes you . You done your Duty and now it's time to rest sweet dreams my good sir this nation is proud and your name will live on though the ages .
