I don't work downtown and I don't make too many trips down there, but I absolutely hate it myself, so I can't imagine what the people think that have to drive down there on a busy work day.

I go down there on a semi-regular basis at all times of day and night and I don't understand all the whining and crying. The only annoying part is that, at times, it can be difficult turning left onto 12th from Broad St. where there are no turning lanes and I would imagine it's a similar problem turning left from Albert onto 11th. Not really a big deal at all. If I find that traffic is that heavy I simply go down 11th instead. I don't know anyone whose life is SO IMPORTANT that adding AT MOST 2 minutes to their commute is life-altering. Do you? Once 12th opens up things will be better. Until then, people should suck it up. The complaining is far more annoying than the traffic.
Aside from that, 11th feels more vibrant with the 2-way traffic. I don't know what it is, but it has a better feel to it. I would imagine there was a similar uproar when they were changed to 1-way in the first place.
