I would think our population is big enough that we could have one mall that wasn't full of 🞵🞵🞵🞵. Dollars stores and food courts. A shoppers and medical office?? Hard to buy clothes if you're a guy. Not to mention malls like the golden mile and vic square. Just frustrated that is all.

Yeah but they probably have triple the amount of malls too. Their income is 25% higher than Sask? Didn't know that. Definitely agree they have a better business climate.

That's too bad you are such a picky shopper. The last time i checked, the Cornwall only has one Dollar store, which i think is norm in every mall, at least that i've been in. Shoppers is a must...its catering to the crowd. They wouldn't have built a brand new store if it weren't needed. Speaking of things that are needed, so is a food court.

Well we are missing a lot of the higher end/more popular stores in SK. i.e. Jacob, Zara, H&M, Guess, Urban Outfitters, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein etc. etc.

These are some of the stores that many people from our province travel to Calgary or Edmonton to shop at. Which is pure loss for our economy.

Exactly! I don’t think it’s being picky to want more of these kinds of stores to give people a reason to come downtown. There’s nothing wrong with having options and I think these malls can aim higher.

Yes me too, I wish for more of these overpriced retail clothing stores to fill the emptiness of being inadequatley judged for my clothing options.

It is what it is.

You can shop at at low end retailers if you desire.
However, there is a market for higher end clothing, and we're not meeting the demand in SK. Forcing people who wish to spend their money on clothes, in a different province.

To be honest, I shop quite frequently for higher-end clothing as well. I like how it fits. That and usually only higher ends make smaller mens clothing. (I also shop for womens attire as well, as it fits better too, so my selection is larger). Now, however much I want these premium boutiques to open up, I'm afraid that what we have, combined with our high end local boutiques and WINNERS seems to cover the rest of the selection. I always thought that winners was a lost downtown opportunity. Just think of the people!!

I completely agree with youngregina.

Winners would be a great addition to the downtown area, maybe not actually in Cornwall Centre complex, but somewhere connected or in close proximity. The more and more the selection of merchandise in the downtown core is diversified (obviously), the better.

I wish the Cornwall would add a 3rd floor, though didn't someone mention Sasktel having air rights above the mall?

Eaton Centre and Yorkdale Mall in Toronto are both currently or are about to renovate/expand. Great that the Southland Mall is finally on the ball with that idea. Not to sure how it is coming? Anyone have any pics of that development?

We need downtown is a Lululemon (we have thousands of women go to Saskatoon solely for that store).

But most importantly, we need a theatre again downtown! Something like 12th and Lorne would be far enough away from the mall/CBD that traffic wouldn't be a mess, but close enough that its within walking distance. Substantial underground parking too.

If a theatre went up downtown I would never have to leave downtown.

Heh! Seems funny that younger people like the higher quality, higher priced name brands, while a lot of older people (who acquire the significant portion of the total wealth) and even young families will outgrow their desire for the name brands and go with cheaper stuf! I'll say, "Yay" for more young people coming to our province! Maybe we can get Harry Rosen, Holt Renfrew or Nygard to encourage the "established" crowd to shop! My wife and I wouldn't mind seeing Abercrombie, Banana Republic, Sephora, Tristan/America, La Coste, and now with baby, H&M, Zara, Disney. We could have some food places like Cobs Bread, Bourbon Street Grill, Sbarro, Harvey's (again!), too!

I would honestly prefer to shop and the sears outlet center and value village than to pay a hundred dollars for any piece of clothing other than a winter jacket.

Hoeding, that is completely understandable and deals are always super to get. Growing Regina and attracting a larger population and keeping the youth will however depend partly in the expansion and addition of those "fancy stores" (not just clothing) so that people don't have to leave.

I'm quite impressed by the Futureshop/Shoppers' Drug Mart/AMC Theatres at Yonge & Dundas Square (Toronto Life Square) in Toronto! Something like that would look good here too!

H&M, Zara (comprehensive family clothing stores) and Sephora (cosmetic superstore) sell their merchandise at pretty reasonable prices.

I'd like to add to my list Whitespot Restaurant, Red Robin, Fat Burger, Cactus Club, Milestone, though we couldn't indulge at those (heart-attack-waiting-to-happen) places too frequently!

I want a nice fancy theatre downtown. Imagine it. Walking distance from the offices and future residential development. Have restaurants popping up near it/walking distance from Scarth street. Dozen screens.

Saskatoon's Midtown Plaza was one floor until the late 80s.
