Sorry, but the economic indicators just don't support this. True, Regina and area did produce more jobs in the past year, but they started out at a deficit.
Saskatoon still kept the same distance or has outpaced Regina in most key economic indicators:
Building permits:
Regina - $427 million ($458 million in 2009)
Saskatoon - $663 million ($534 million in 2009)
Housing starts:
Regina - 1347 (up 45% from 2009's 930)
Saskatoon - 2381 (up 67% from 2009's 1428)
These numbers, in addition to the population increase, don't happen without significant development and quality job opportunities (which are career-based jobs, and not the service based jobs that populate saskjobs.ca). And Saskatoon and area has many large developments underway or scheduled to begin, as well, so don't think Regina is the only place with a bright future.
Sorry, but Saskatoon won't be losing ground.
