It feels so weird for Saskatoon to be 265,000.

Good to see Regina come in at 215,000 though!

Wikipedia doesn't have Saskatoon's metro area so I'm not too sure how big they are.

I do know that our CMA stops like 9km outside of Moose Jaw city limits. If they were to be included in our CMA we'd be much close to matching Saskatoon's population.

Maybe twenty years down the road when both Regina and Moose Jaw are more built out they'll be in the same CMA.

You can sure notice it on the roads. What a difference from a few years ago.

Saskatoon's CMA is much larger both in population and area. Saskatoon's includes many large communities like Martensville and Warmen. In fact, the growth within Saskatoon's CMA that is not within the city limits should be cause for concern for that city. I heard from a civic building inspector that Warman had more building permits for houses than Saskatoon did last year. (although said inspector is neither from Saskatoon nor Warman)

Still, great news for Saskatchewan.

I ran the numbers. At this rate of growth we will be at 1 million people in a mere 70 years!

I can't find a non-free image, but found images that are a few years old in this document. Scroll to the end and they're in there. The CMA boundaries are probably the same, although the city boundaries have expanded outward.

I didn't realize how big Saskatoon's CMA is compared to Regina's. That thing is massive!

Its so cool to see the map of the CMA in Saskatchewan. The thing stretches on forever.

Does anyone know how they determine the boundaries for the CMA? You would assume there was a general rule of a certain km radius around any given city but apparently not. We should add Saskatoon to Reginas CMA!

I'm pretty sure its based on commuting. Cities like White City or Lumsden have a high percentage of people working in Regina. Moose Jaw does not. I know its more complicated than that though.
