Heh! I haven't posted for a long time guys, but I enjoy reading what's going on! You guys are doing all right to update this thread!

Umm ... I happen to like reading the these articles inline in the thread, because sometimes I'm reading from my Blackberry browser, which only allows one browser window to be opened, so if I have to link to a story, it takes a bit of time to load and update. Then I have to navigate back to this forum page, which takes a bit more time! But, then I could probably do more browsing on the computer, if everyone likes the links better! Sorry! Carry on ...

Besides, I have enough room to grow my own food...like they did in the good old days. Why do we have to pack people in like sardines to be considered successful?

I didn't see advocation for sardine-like conditions...

Using rough numbers, Clear Vistas could triple the amount of traffic commuting into/out of Regina from the east. Maybe 5000 people live in the area now; iirc, Clear Vistas is looking at adding 10,000+ people.

Victoria Avenue is at capacity. Hwy 46 is now "busy". Arcola between Ring Road and Victoria is at capacity. Tripling the commuting demand is going to result in some type of significant change for the east-end. The current options are: significantly longer commute times, signifcant transition to public transit, and wishful thinking that "my commute" won't be affected. My pessimism is due to the choke-points on the roads; we can make the roads wider everywhere except at the crossings with Ring Road.

The only way I can see Clear Vistas as being un-bad sprawl is if large employment centres are established there, and it generates contra-flow commuting from Regina to CV/White City/Emerald Park. But CV appears to be a bedroom community, so this is unlikely.

That stretch of Arcola has tons of capacity. It is 6 lanes wide and the third lane is barely used - except by me.

The big issue with Arcola is the choking that occurs at the overpass at the Ring Road and especially the double lights on the overpass. In the winter the green lights are way too short for many cars to get through whenever traction is poor. During the ridiculously long bridge rehab that has been going on there all spring-summer-fall, it is too bad they didn't use the opprotuinty to widen the bridge to 6 lanes.

Of course with the construction sh*t show out there this year it has been a total disaster on Arcola and on the Ring Road. So far only one death. But I guess if the City saves a few thousand bucks allowing the contractor to endlessly stretch the job out, who cares if tens of thousands of citizens a day are seriously delayed - that costs the City nothing.

My walk to work still only takes 5 minutes at most. What's the problem?

There are things that you control, and things that you do not...you have no right to complain about things that you control. YOU chose to live in east Regina. To get there, you need to use the roads...they need repairs sometimes. As long as your conscious decision is to live outside of Regina's core, you have no right to complain about traffic, commute times or construction on the main roads. That comes with the territory.

Same as I have no right to complain about there being no grocery store downtown, 12th avenue being tore up...they are inconveniences that come with the territory.

I have no right to complain about how far my commute is, but I certainly have the right to complain about unreasonable construction schedules that appear to give no heed nor assign any value to the lost time of commuters, truckers, and others travelling our roads.

That one will be a little restaurant pavilion, and the one on the west side of the park will be for the downtown ambassadors, and the scheduling office for the park and plaza space.
