Humm in Canada, west to east as far as I know

Victoria - limited service by bus (outside city limits)

Vancouver - SkyTrain Canada Line, night bus when Canada Line not running (outside city limits)

Kelowna - city bus - limited service on weekends and evenings (outside city limits)

Kamloops- city bus - limited service

Calgary - City bus to C-Train

Winnipeg - city bus - two routes, frequent service, runs to 1:30am

Toronto - city bus - local route and express route to subway stations, night buses when subway not running, 24 hour service - service frequent 24 hours per day (outside city limits)

Montreal - city bus - shuttle to bus loop and express to Metro, direct service overnight, 24 hour service (outside city limits)

Whitehorse - city bus

Edmonton - err - , well, we're still kinda talking about it, don't want to rush anything here.....

I still do not understand why the cost that has been quoted is what it is. What did they say, it would be 3 Million dollars to run a bus to the airport? Why? I don't get it?

I had a board meeting in Leduc last Thursday, 2 of our directors from Saskatchewan were flying YEG-YYC-YXE to get back home.

On my drive up I heard a the radio spot for the YEG campaign a couple of times on the Red Deer rock station, "The Zed" I think it was.

I suppose it depended on when the meeting ended (and probably the price too).

the 2 nonstops YEG-YXE are at 16:45 (WJ) and 18:45 (AC). If the meeting went late into the day even the 18:45 flight could be tough to catch.

Our meeting was scheduled to end at 15:45, and it was earlier than that. I wonder why they didn't book the AC flight?

I've find it frustrating booking online. There never seems to be direct routes, or a least route I know exists. Even some travel agents have a hard time getting direct routes sometimes.

Halifax will be launching some sort of new public transportation from the Stanfield International Airport to (correct me if I'm wrong) the Dartmouth Bridge Terminal and into downtown. It will also stop at the Burnside Industrial Park (along the way) and the aerotech park as you leave the airport. Service should be starting this August.

EDMONTON — Trial transit bus service to the Edmonton International Airport should start this fall if the airport authority will cover half the cost, a new report says.

Officials are recommending an 18-month test of a bus to the airport from the Century Park LRT station, which would run daily every 30 minutes from 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., says the report released Thursday.

The cash fare would be $5, higher than the standard adult fare of $2.75 to ride Edmonton Transit, but the route would still need a $982,000 subsidy because “there is a significant risk of low ridership levels,” the report says.

^I actually found this part quite interesting.

Already in the works will be a weekday peak-hour bus to the airport beginning in August. It is part of a new route between Leduc and Century Park.

The county and the City of Leduc are paying Edmonton Transit's expenses to provide the service, which will cost adults $5 cash and is aimed mainly at Leduc commuters.

So the route to the airport will actually be seperate from the route to Leduc? Seems like a bit of a waste but at the same time i can understand someone from Leduc not wanting a 15 minute minimum detour through the airport before going into the city. In the off-peak, though, they should have a local Leduc bus travel to the airport to transfer to the bus to downtown. Unleast Leduc can then say you have bus access to the city all day.

Seems to be an advocacy group to keep the City Centre field open. They keep saying that on average YEG is closed 60 days a year due to weather. That has to be crazy talk right? I fancy myself an aviation geek as well (plus a commercial pilots license holder) and I never recall hearing a stat like that.

They also like to harp on the fact that without YXD airliners have to use YYC as a diversion due to weather. But why would an airline like AC or WS use YXD as an alternate? Only in emergency cases can I see the logic of using YXD first before trying for YQR (Red Deer) or YYC.

I figured as much, they probably consider a ground stop due to fog/thunderstorm for an hour as a "closed" day.

I see both sides of this battle though, here at SSP we are very much pro-development to turn that area into something that could be amazing. Then on another website I frequent (a Canadian aviation one) most of us on here would be branded as nothing more than greedy developers looking to make more money at the expense of lives lost due to no close medivac option.

^no close medivac? They did a study on YEG to UofA versus YXD to the Royal and it was not extreme, even though I recognize that the golden hour is critical.
