^ Haha. Good call. Like it's one thing to have substantial, nice, real plants, but the ones in our airport are doing more harm than good. Especially the planters. They are soo cheap looking. I would rather have no planters than have ones that look like cheap boxes made of recycled counter tops.

The terminal floor plan looks good. It will be nice to have an airport where we can move around... Hopefully they have plans for shops, and a couple restaurants in the terminal....

As for the Saskatoon NHL team. My stance on that is we could support one no questions asked. Our stadium though, now that it is 15,000 capacity is pretty substandard by NHL standard. I am pretty sure that we are on the scope with the NHL, just because of our history with support events like the World Junior, and the full culture of Hockey that exists in the province.

As for supporting a CFL team, I'd be against that. It would piss Regina off too much, plus we have the Huskies. I went to see Warren Moon speak at the Dog's Breakfast, and I am confident the Huskies will be a Vanier contender this year.

As for the Riders, keep dreaming about that new domed stadium, but my opinion is you need to play outside. What would happen if you put the Green Bay Packers or Chicago Bears into a dome? Answer: They turn into the Detroit Lions.

I personally would have to agree with what your saying about Saskatoon not having a CFL, in a way it can be great, and in another way it can be a bad thing for the province, on the other hand i say Saskatoon can fight for a NHL team, which i think would bring a lot to Saskatoon. It would be pretty cool to say in this province, Regina has a CFL team, while Saskatoon has an NHL team, i think that would be awesome for Saskatchewan, but then again i can keep dreaming untill it actually happens if it ever does, just thought i'd put that out there.

Well I do know that the Govt of Sask was showing off a scaled model rendering of the new stadium that is proposed for Regina at that breakfast in Stoon. And as far as your comments about a dome, this new facility will not be a dome, it will be a covered stadium with a retractible roof similar to that of many stadiums being built around the world today. Its great to hear that most in Stoon are in support of this project which will benefit the entire province.

Also, fingers crossed that you get that flight to London, that would be sweet

Circle Drive Bridge Starts Major Construction PDF Print E-mail

Major construction on the Circle Drive South bridge project is kicking into gear.

The contractor will begin putting in the drainage system starting this coming week. That will involve putting in large diameter sewer pipes on both sides of the river, starting on the west.

Until now, crews have been doing mainly clearing and prep work.

Doug Drever, Project Manager with the City, says construction on the actual bridge won't likely start until late July, when they get environmental approval to work in the river.

You probably couldn't pick a worse project than a stadium to plunk down on the existing railyards.

If and when (and from what I've been told and sought out, when is a long time and about a billion dollars away) the railyards move out I'd like to see high-density mix-use apt/condo/commercial/retail, not some concrete box with more surface parking.

Now wouldn't it be a kicker if they were refused based on the environmental impact of "building" the bridge. You would have thought that the city would have obtained this approval before tendering the project.

I'd have to agree. I think the northwest downtown area would be a great place for a large park and high density residential.

We already have 2 football stadiums Griffiths and Gordie Howe Bowl. I could see either being upgraded to 20,000-25,000 seats, preferably griffiths. With University themed rock, would look great. Imagine that paired with the new residence development, plus all kinds of little shops and restaurants. No need to tailgate, it's all right there. I'd like to see them play a pre-season game in Saskatoon first, just to see what kind of response we'd get.

As for the retractable dome in Regina. I'd say we need a class A+ facilty for the Huskies as well. Make that part of the package. To me, the Huskies are more important than the Riders. These are our boys we are talking about. Not 65 players from around the US from various colleges getting the best of the best in Regina. Why not make our own Football Factories class A?

Plus this would be an added bonus for the Rams.

If Regina can get it done without provincial government funds, or less than 10% prov gov't funds, I'd be in favour. Any more than that and I think it is too great a burden on Tax payers in the Northern reaches of the province to have a Retractable dome in Regina. I hope that is understandable.

From what I have heard the only reason for delayted environmental approval is that they need to wait and ensure that the fish are done spawning. Once they confirm spawning is done for fish on the river the City will get the go ahead.

So recieving environmental approval should not be an issue at all.

If you don't spend any money at Casino Regina or Casino MooseJaw, you have nothing to worry about. The new stadium in Regina will be constructed under the umbrella of the CIC Sask Gaming which runs both these casinos.

I used Photoshop but no need to go to that expense as it can be done in any photo editing program.

Went by the new wine store on the weekend. If you look over top of the boards, it's looks like a pretty impressive entrance. That area just keeps getting better.

Not sure if anyone else has noticed, but it appears that the first few residents of the KG have moved in. Driving by it last night I noticed lights on in a few suites, and blinds in windows I hadn't noticed before.

Oh, and while we're marking milestones... Happy 8000th post! (and counting)

I'm not sure if all of the suites are done, but a friend's Grandma has been moved in for about a month or so now so there's definetely people living there .
