WoodlandCritter: That looks awesome. Please send that in to the city, and forward it to every one of the city councillors.
If you send it to "City Council" c/o the City Clerk's Office, it will be duplicated and sent to all 10 councillors as well as the mayor. The advice to send it to the previously-mentioned city GM is good as well, but it could just get buried in bureaucracy that way. Sending it to City Council ensures that all of council will at minimum see it, and hopefully appreciate it for the possibilities it poses.
Awesome job WoodlandCritter (and classmates)! Regardless of whether it's feasible to build or not, it's a much grander vision than "throwing up some pillars and painting them blue" a la Mo Nault's suggestion lol.
Where have you seen beavers? I'd love to get some pictures of those big toothed water rats.
Anywhere along the west side is where I've seen them. They're everywhere along the river though. You likely won't have much luck seeing them during the day. Evening hours and later is better. They can be quite skiddish too.

Badass work WoodlandCritter and friends. Looks like it could be a rail station somewhere in Europe. It's a very nice addition to downtown. The idea of a canopy is interesting. I do wonder how it would work in practice. Would the glass become hazy after a couple years from the buses idling all the time. I'm not sure but it's something that popped into my head.

Even if this entire project was deemed to not be feasible, I would hope that they could at least take away your innovative take on a bench and incorporate it in another civic project. I love the organic and "peeled back" reference of the bench with water and light being reflected underneath. I have not seen anything like this elsewhere and believe that your bench design alone merits further investigation.

Without a doubt. City admin does (they asked to have an image of the future growth plan map removed...that was a couple years ago).

Oh yes and the Porsches, I was down at the Audi dealership today and they have a nice used 911Carrera.
The new Porsches according to a salesperson should be here in June or July and will be selling out of the Ford dealership until a new space is renovated or acquired.
The old Saturn building is sitting empty right now and my thought is they may purchase and renovate that building but that is pure speculation on my part. Hard to believe Porsche in Saskatoon.

Yeah as soon as i get a finalized good copy of stuff done i'll send it in. We did look at many public spaces and one had similar benches to the ones that peel back, we did design them ourselves but they were inspired by ones we had seen, so i can't take full credit for them. I'm not even sure where the original ones are located. The idea just seemed very different.

And much like the repeated claim that when Lake Placid gets going on their project, it'll spur others to invest and build downtown, I think that once a student design is given publicity and possible consideration by city planners and builders, then more students will take that into consideration when completing projects!!! That's awesome news!!
From David Hutton's City Hall Notebook, last night council approved to send out a RFP for the design of the AGS. The winning team, from a short list of 5, will be selected at the end of June. Each team will be required to submit a written proposal and be interviewed by the selection committee.

Ok - I'm starting to get a good feeling. We don't have too much international stuff here but some very good Canadian architects. Diamond and Schmitt has done some nice stuff. And of course KPMB has done great work lately: The Royal Conservatory, the National Ballet School, etc. Not bad. We might actually get something good here. Hope that they make the designs public at an early stage and solicit feedback.
