I wouldnt worry much about the world of Airliners.net and its clients.

You will notice that most of the members who have anything bad to say about YEG are from you guessed it...Calgary!

Small potatoes for YEGGER's IMHO.

I take any Canadian discussion on A.net with a grain of salt (been a member since March, 2001), there are some serious haters from Eastern Canada on there that love the chance to dirt us.

Tuffy has already stated that there are enough passengers to fill a YEG-FRA flight. The data is there but AC does not want to weaken it's Calgary Hub plain and simple. There's a reason why there's an afternoon flight to YYC on an E90 or CRJ as opposed to a DH3.

I am curious what the loads are like on the YEG-LHR flight. That flight kills any chance of a YEG-FRA flight. London is a prime destination to visit and i understand that but as a connecting airport it 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵. I have flown to Frankfurt enough times to see how many of the same people get on the flight with me to Frankfurt whether it be through Calgary, Montreal or Toronto.

baby steps
I might add removing all those cars from #2 would be noticable in the long run.

My flight to Lyon has me out of Yeg to calgary -Frankfurt -Lyon. So even Frances 2nd city gets screwed.

Nice idea, but (much) easier said than done.

I definitely understand that it's not easy but at the same time there isn't 3x daily YEG-CUN flights where there's so much aircraft to shuffle around. It is a longer flight and i'm sure WestJet has enough 800's to set up the proper aircraft 2 or 3 times a week to CUN. Air Canada seems to get this right having the non-XM'd 763's fly from Edmonton to Cancun and Montego Bay. We will see how it goes. Hopefully i don't get stuck on a non-TV aircraft.

I went to go read some of the comments on A.NET and its funny...

(noflyzone) who is a Calgary user says;Maybe one day in the next 15 years YEG will get a European heavy...

Thats funny you guys get Thomas Cook in the summer with a A330-300, plus all the Antonovs that pass through.Pretty sure those are European and last time I checked a AN-124 is a little beyond heavy...

WestJets flights to MMUN from YEG are usually operated by the 737-800.Actually had the special livered 737-800 here a few days ago, from YYZ I believe.Occasionally we get the 737-700's aswell. But most of the YEG flights have been on the 800's.

Supposedly, that special livery 737-800 is one of the non-ptv jets.

Not supposedly, it is without PTV's right now. I have a few connections at Westjet and they confirmed it.

^Bigtime maybe you can ask your connections which seats have no windows / covered windows.

I asked a WestJet customer service agent this morning and she said that it's seats 8A and 8F.

Below is an e-mail response from WestJet about the same issue.

Quote:
We can't tell you if your flight will have operational seatback televisions or not, so you may wish to bring a book, magazine, MP3 or DVD player. Repairs are being made to the systems on the aircraft affected as we speak, and the situation is temporary. Thanks for your understanding in advance.
As for seat selection, there is a seat map that comes up when you go to choose one. I can tell you that seats A and F each have windows.

I'll email them and see if they come back with anything.

Coming back to Edmonton?

Well I maybe coming back to Edmonton, I recieved a job offer back with the EIA and though the money is slightly better my wife (and myself) are having a issue as we have become very settled here in the Riviera Maya and its great people and the weather!

Lots of thinking going on right now...

Just a question what are housing prices like right now in Edmonton, I couldnt link to any good Edmonton real estate sites from some odd reason (maybe its a sign).

^ Agreed. Prices have come down and prices will be coming down in the next year and beyond. Houses in SW Edmonton for example are selling $10,000 to $15,000 below asking price. The more expensive the home, the more of a discount you can get.

If you are looking to buy a home and would have a decent down payment then the prices are fine. If you are looking at staying here for a couple of years and maybe moving on, i'd rent. Of course, i am a contrarian and i have many reasons why i believe prices will keep on going down unlike the realtors, home builders and land developers will tell you.

If you want, i could drop off some magazines off at the Cancun airport as i'll be in Cancun again next Tuesday. I'm sure i speak for most on here saying we'd love to have you back.
