Anyone know anything about this?
There were potential problems already in the morning hours. When I was waiting for my train to go to the airport, the next train arriving to the stn, bound for YVR-Airport, was a 7 minute wait; next train to Richmond-Brighouse was 8 minute, and the second one was 9 minute wait.

My train was more packed than opening day -__- I'll share photos a little later... too lazy to grab my camera from my bag =P

Any comments? Yeah I do have a few comments. How about go reading back the posts and see if they were related to the discussion. Then go look at your posts and see if they were information pulled out of nowhere. If you have any problems with my moderating, then go ask help from other moderators.

Passenger counters are signs with small infrared sensors perched below the signs.

I'm guessing the author is pro-Canada Line.

Look up at the Fare Paid Zone signs - the ones with an icon of a customs official holding a hand up to stop you, or at least that what they remind me of. You'll see the infrared sensors right there.

The loss of direct service whinners is really annoying.

1985 - Skytrain opened to New Westminster, BC Transit cancelled the express coach service from New West to Vancouver

circa 1990 - Skytrain opened to Scott Road, all express buses to Vancouver terminated at Scott Road

circa mid 1990s - Millennium line opened - express buses along Lougheed Highway cancelled, direct service to downtown replaced by routes to the Skytrain

So why should Canada Line be any different?

Okay, I'm back. The sensors are not on ALL signs, just some.. generally the ones that make the most sense. Excuse the lousy pictures from my phone..

This one is at the bottom of the stairs at VCC in the down direction:

I noticed lots of people walking down the exit stairs to the platform at VCC where there is not a sensor. It was quite late at night, but I imagine that human traffic will cause people to use the correct entrance during the day.

VCC exit stairs:

At Waterfront station, the Granville Street exit AND entrance both have sensors for some reason.

Granville Street exit at Waterfront Station:

The Waterfront station door has sensors across the whole width, however, so who knows how accurate it may or may not be.

I entered the system at Waterfront and didn't notice the sensor (was looking near the Fare Paid Zone signs, but that is not where they are.. they put them where the last sign is before stepping on the platform). Didn't see it at first as the outbound train was sitting there, so I rushed on and looked around at VCC where I didn't see one either as I was looking for the Fare Paid Zone signs again. I asked an attendant who wouldn't tell me. Kind of rude an evasive rather than just saying 'sorry, can't say'. He proceeded to watch me look around, shortly after I went down the stairs I found them.

^ I rode it again yesterday...and I didn't pay much attention to those on the bottom of the signs. I kept looking down on the yellow paint that says "Fare Paid Zone"

It also says a lot about the number of vending machines at each station - there's not enough of them!!

I was picked up (met) at the airport on Friday morning when I flew back into town. I had used the line to get to the airport at 530am on Tuesday but it was his first time riding the line when he came to meet me. He's not an avid transit user (he's a downtown walker instead) so didn't know anything about zones. I have to agree with him that the signage is extremely poor in terms of purchasing tickets and how many zones you need. There's no zone maps in the stations, an no maps at all near the machines. Also, on arrival at YVR, when you walk into the Link building, there are signs directing to the domestic or International terminals. However, there is no indication on where to go for arrivals (again he doesn't know the airport as intimately as some of us here, myself included) so he had to ask at an information desk to find out where the hell to find me.

Isn't there a station/zone map right on the machine front (on top)?

Ron.

Yeah.

Not VERY noticeable, though. I didn't notice it while there, or in the photo and was all prepared to say "No..."

Needs to be like this for people to take notice

And of course, on the screen you select your destination and it automatically calculates your fare. Which wouldn't be too hard to do on a system our size.

Does anybody have trolley bus wire diagram for the Marine Drive bus loop?

It seems it will be like Marpole - with a general loading area for all trolley buses, and a storage area.

It seems to me a trolley bus will arrive via Yukon Street, unload, then go around the loop to a staging area where it will wait for it's time to leave, then come back around, load up and leave via Cambie Street. Wiring is designed to allow trolley buses to pass.

The loading platform

Does it *really* only cost $2.50 to go from City Centre to YVR? I don't believe it

How do they justify making it almost $6 in the future

Anybody else notice their photos being used in this video? I recognized 6 of mine, a few from Yume-Sama's recent trip to the Harbour Centre and one of the Shangri-La sunset ones recently posted by PROSTSHOCKER. I'm sure there are more from fellow forumers, perhaps some of Deasine's or Metro-One's?
