Probably because the PNE opened today.

edit: well that wouldn't make sense for the C-Line platform really upon second thought.

They are announcing over the PA that the C-Line is experiencing delays. That's it. No details. The train I'm on is definately at crush load.

I talked to an attendant, they said there were some technical issues downtown (no idea exactly what that means).

The pot calling the kettle black? As if you haven't made the same digs against the Liberals in this topic...only difference is you've done it quite a few more times than the rest of the forum combined.

At this point, I think I'll only want to see 3 future stations built. 33rd Avenue (the train there is a slug anyway, might as well), Capstan (the massive development next door, plus the developer subsidizing station costs), and of course YVR 3 for the future airport terminal expansion.

Something worth mentioning:

Alderbridge (now Lansdowne): 30
Sea Island East (now Templeton): 10
IT is a 2003 document, and also there's a supposed Westminster station.

Lansdowne turns out to be very busy station, # of boardings from my observation is almost 2/3 of that of Richmond-Brighouse

Does anyone find document on station dwelling time for each of the Canada Line station?
Yesterday I felt that at Olympic Village and Yaletown stations, doors only opened for 8-10 seconds, really too quick.

I could do without any more stations... other than the cost, it would be more convenient to take a taxi from downtown to YVR if it was any slower.

And, I guess, if you had 3 or 4 people taking a taxi would probably cost the same when the extra fee comes in.

^ i'll actually agree with that, but i'm just setting the limits. I really don't want a 57th Avenue station, it's the only section that the train goes fast.

Not to mention that is it worth putting in more stations if the line can't even sustain existing (thus, future) ridership levels? I think YVR 3 is the only definite future station, being that it connects with the terminal expansion and the Canada Line doubles as the airport's people mover.

The City of Richmond seems to be really intent on making Capstan happen with the adjacent developers. Not too exactly sure with 33rd Avenue.

I'm sure we don't have to connect with EVERY major destination along the line, right? If it were LIM, travel times with additional stations wouldn't be too much of an increase.

There are long lineups for the ticket vending machines at most station's. I really think it says a lot about their ridership projections for the line, that they've grossly underestimated it. Hopefully, they'll order more TVM's soon....not just more trains.

I too had just finished my 2nd tour of Canada Line on Saturday to get more passport stamps.
When I left Vancouver City Centre Station around 5pm. There were about 12 people on each of the 3 TVMs line up. I think the project planners must have included the use of smart card into consideration. Once smart card technology is implemented, 3 TVMs might be sufficient. Unfortunately smart card implementation is still 3 years away

Quite a few passengers wore T-shirt printed with the word 'CityChase'.
It made the Waterfront Station even busier.

When I rode into downtown just after 2pm, the PA said there was a problem with one of the trains. Didn't say where or which riders it should concern, I assume it was a system wide announcement. I noticed the southbound trains were just sitting there at Olympic Village, Yaletown, and VCCentre.

Train were delayed when I tried to go to Richmond from YVR station around 3pm on Saturday. Train stopped at the station close to 10 minutes. The Richmond-Brighouse Station was packed with people. When it arrived at Aberdeen station, I became a 'sardine' again when loads of people crushed into the train. Where did all these people come from?
I saw a lot of pessengers at Waterfront and YVR station had luggage. Some of them had difficulty using the stairs, resulting in line up for elevator. Also the luggage tends to block the walkway from other people.

Richmond Review did a comparison of four modes of transportation from Richmond Centre b-line terminus to Waterfront on Tuesday morning. The result is not surprising:
By Canada Line: 24 minutes (plus short four minute walk)
By car: 34 minute drive + 5 minute walk
By bus: 49 minutes
By bicycle: One hour, seven minutes

But you need to transfer! ZOMG!! Saw some complaints the other day on the Vancouver LiveJournal community complaining about their precious highway coaches being cancelled..

Heading downtown to catch a movie @ Scotiabank. I'll stop at VCC Station afterwards to see if I can find the passenger counters. I believe they are at the fare paid boundary so it should be somewhat obvious..

Finally going to the airport tomorrow. Who wants to join the party?

Actually going to pick up a friend. Maybe we'll even take the train back, but he has a lot of luggage. Could be a test.
