Agree, not a fair comparison. Condos don't even break ground until a percentage are sold. Can't get financing on spec. Remember Monarch tried to go Condo after they were under way, but the financial model was not in place.... so when sales were not fast enough they had to revert to apartments.

So, yeah, it would make sense that condos fill up quicker than apartments.

Can't wait to nose around the Ashton!

Well what I mean by "generic numbers" are numbers that just, well, pop up in many places. Another thing is called generic names. They include John, Adams, Emily, Smith, and so on.

The Monarch has long been completed and opened. It has quite a far distance from downtown with a prominent location. So that's why it has a really high lease percentage because of excellent views.

Most of these are from this hot hot morning (and a few from during the week). Start off with the W, which is really moving along now. Already moving up to the 8th floor.

I took a few more photos around the Ashton. I was hoping to get some of the lobby, but it still wasn't quite ready. Starting to look really nice around there.

Is the base (parking levels) finished of are they going to have something fill the openings? Right now it looks odd and unfinished. The drawings at the site were not much help. The drawing on their www looks like an open mesh will be added.

The tower portion of the W doesn't look to be as wide as I thought. I am looking forward to seeing this tower in the skyline.

Surface parking lots can ruin an otherwise marvelous photo. I hope the Austin Museum of Art can do something with their block one day relatively soon. Same with the Marriott Convention Center Hotel site.

I might also add that although I'm not a huge fan of the Ashton building, it's starting to grow on me. I like the way it looks at ground-level, and the white/cream coloring on the top and metal accents have made the building quite attractive.

Thanks for braving the heat, Priller!

I noticed this afternoon while running (yes, there are still some people on the trail even in this heat!) that the cranes were moving for the W. They must be trying to speed things up, working on Saturday! Unless they were raising one of the cranes.. which would be a typical Saturday thing to do..

Still enjoying the experience of new vantage points to see the Austonian.

My new one this morning was coming in east from Barton Creek Blvd on Lost Creek Blvd before you get to Lost Creek Country Club. It was starting poke above the hills looking east.

I also saw it yesterday from the 620 / 183 flyover by Lakeline Mall.

Minor correction.... but, for me, worth noting. The Monarch is downtown. Well within the CBD and only a few blocks walk from Congress.

Well I just count downtown between 360 and I-35.

i've never really heard of that. so you wouldn't count spring as part of downtown????
