Calgary is tied for 5th.
Where do you think Edmonton would rank if it were evaluated? Similar to Calgary? As with the Mercer index, their reason for not evaluating Edmonton is that it is so similar to Calgary, therefore can we assume Edmonton could be in the top 10?
I'd say top 20 is possible.

how the ** can Calgary be 5th for the most livable community in the world. Good lord, i mean come on. Did they exlude every city in the world except calgary, vancouver and three other cities?
What is their criteria for being livable - livable in that you must have a car?
Calgary is not a city i would associate as a city with art, culture, urban design, walkable communities, ect... (things I would associate adding to quality of life)
I suppose if their criteria is crime, housing, air quality, education - then maybe, but to me, that does not make a city more "livable"
For example, ask someone who lives in Rome, or anywhere in Italy or France if they think Calgary (if they had visited calgary) is a livable city and where it should rank.
I think the dichotomy of "standard of living" and "quality of life" has confused the writers who make these so-called evaluations. Obviously they think if a city provides a high standard of living, it qualifies as a livable city.
