The Adecco space - very nice. Heartwarming to see a street-level office become a restaurant!

^ honestly, I'll take a subway. That really is a great place for a restaurant. I wish the Hat had moved in there actually, but I'll take anything that isn't a placement service.

There are at least 5 Subways within a 5-block radius of 103 and Jasper. I'm hoping for a bistro-type place. 83 seats seems too big to be fast food.

Great to hear!!! That space is IDEAL for a restaurant. I would suspect not a subway as they just put one in a block north.

with 83 seats it will be a hat type place i bet

would be nice for a cool hole in the wall place. a pizzaria, italian restaurant, casual dining (like perhaps blue plate or route 99 or i don't know), or some authentic ethnic cuisine would be awesome.

I hope this is the one over the LRT/pedway entrance on the City Centre side? The current one looks awful and doesn't fit into the theme of the square at all.

Or would it be the one on the City Hall Block, adjacent from the Art Gallery? This one was suppose to be replaced to match the gallery, but cut out of the redevelopment due to cost overruns.

Did I hear the news right? The City has a half a billion dollars to spend because of lower construction costs? A half a BILLION?

CBC said council was debating how to spend it? Of course every councillor wants their peice of the pie.

Still some risk, I'm sure there must be a demo clause in that lease, as well as there was asbestos issues with that space also.

If i had this money RIGHT NOW, I'd use it for:

1.$35 million - Jasper Ave. Revitalization and Beautification
2.$200 million - LRT Extension to WEM
3.$265 million - New DIRECT major arterial to Downtown (via iconic new bridge)

Might be daydreaming with the cost of the third project though

200 M for the full extension to WEM Harrison? If so, I'll take 3.

I'm sure a line to the west end would be at least 1 billion if it took 625 million to get to century park.

well, in that case, then i'd just use the full $600 million (heard that number on CTV @ 6), for the extension to WEM.

Also on CTV, i saw a proposed route to WEM using Stony Plain Road and 170 St. Never thought of that route before.

1. Jasper Avenue revitalization - ~40 mill ?
2. Edmonton Streetcar (Quarters - Downtown - Strathcona - Oliver)- ~ 100 mill ?
3. LRT expansions - or start funding for them - w/help from Str Cnty and St Al - ~ 300 mill ?
4. Sort of (rt) transit to the airport. - ~ 5 mill ?
5. New ETS branding - ~ 5 mill ?
6. Merge St Albert and Str County buses to form 1 transit with deal - ~ 20 mill

I realize this is more for Edmonton and we really can't force Str Cnty and St Al to merge or pay funding for LRT but it would be a great way to use money I suppose.

600 million Emergency Pothole Relief Fund?

But seriously, spend it on LRT and bike lanes/trails.
