^i really hope we use an 87ave alignment and somehow engineer a stop at the zoo/river valley.

/\ for who to get on? seriously, without opportunity to build sufficient med. density residential at least around it (see bridgelands in Calgary) it would be a dead stop. Same logic/demand for a Kinsmen stop on the current line...

^a community station there for people to access the zoo, river valley, dragon boats, rowing club, etc. etc. Nothing crazy but a simple station akin to mcKernan.

There has been a lot of resistance from the community regarding increased traffic flow into the valley. The Rowing club had to justify that traffic would not increase significantly when they were planning their new facility.

The Dragon Boats use another part of the valley and their users would drive down, since most are suburban.

But I agree a stop would be good for access to the Valley attractions, not only the Zoo but also a short walk to Fort Ed.

Marriott Jr. noted that with the upcoming openings of the Lingfield Park Marriott, London, St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel and the expansion of the Courtyard brand in United Kingdom, Marriott will continue to have a strong presence in the region.

MAR is trading up $0.73 or 3.87% at $19.82 on a volume of about 6.93 million shares.

McKernan will get more use then a zoo station ever would... sorry, without a decent attraction/employment/residential base, a station isn't justified. Put one just past the traffic circle at 142-143 for a community station. If you want to go to the zoo, walk.

The Valley Zoo needs to be better than it is right now to warrant an LRT station. Does the Valley Zoo have regular bus service?

Agreed, there's no regular bus that I know of and most of the vehicle traffic in the area is due to the off-leash park. Last time I checked you can't take poochie on transit.

This is a non-issue...Like Oni said, there is NO opportunity to build any kind of medium+ density residential or commercial around the zoo. And beyond this fantasy stop, an 87th Av alignment would pass through more than 3km of low to extremely-low density residential before approaching a suitable population/business base (149st and west). I just can't see that the transit time savings would be worth the cost and lack of development potential

Yeah they're pretty good especially for fast food. And the staff is pretty friendly.
