You could also run 6 different LRT lines that consolidate into one train before traveling into the the tunnel. It would be very cool and awesome, but not practical, feasible, or affordable. Also, should be in the 'future' thread, this thread is only for actual proposals.

It is not wrong to force transfers. As long as you account for transfer time in your demand models there shouldn't really be any concern. Ottawa's entire issue with transit is that to maintain current service levels/quality to individual users while also accommodating growth is incredibly expensive.

The politicians decided that accommodating growth was the main concern, not service quality. People will no longer have 1 seat rides for commutes and 2 seat rides will become 3 seat rides. Or in theory a current 3 seat ride (feeder, transit way, feeder) will become a 5 seat ride. Sure it sucks until the LRT network is built out replacing the main busways, but the problem isn't that they are doing this now, but that politicians 30 years ago didn't start with the same plan and choose a plan that had limited viability.
