Yes, for example you can see how the Market building from the other photo was converted into a 3 storey office building, as rgalston said.

funy thing about that movment s all the bus drivers wound up in alabama state prision for failing to report a bomb threat witch in alabama is a felony and the bomb threat was a fake set up by the state.... the charges got reversed in apeals court and they were let free after being beatin in jail but the state apealed and won and they all fled the states to canada and as far as i know all are still refugees to this day.... i know this cause one of my old boss's was one of the bus drivers

These two maps are great - restaurants/theatres and housing in the CBD, 1948.

The only one I know of was the fire chief's house--looked like your average c.1890s/1900s Winnipeg two-storey house. It was immediately beside the fire hall. Don't know if it was specifically built to be where the chief lived, or if it just built, and became used as such.

Pretty cool map you can see the old spur line goes up right to the back door of Pantages Theatre that spur line is now John Hirch Way in behind MTC and Ashdown.

Yes, that isn't the house, it must have been gone by the 1950s, I don't know what that was, though I don't think it was commercial/residential.

Council concurred with Property and Development Committee and listed the building as Grade III.

I see Lorne Weiss, Ken Hunter, David Rich and Gavin Rich are going in front of Property and Development Committee on Feb. 2 to discuss Kelly House (88 Adelaide). I believe Richlu had earlier asked for it to be delisted for demolition (because they received a notice under the Vacant and Derelict Buildings Bylaw), but they were denied and told to consult with Centre Venture to come up with a plan for the building.

The owner said $380,000 was required to restore the building, but the City hired their own consultant and said it was structurally sound and required $42,000 to repair the roof (significant work is still required inside though). Anyway, it will be interesting to see if they have come up with some kind of reuse plan for the structure.

^ build a new foundation and move the house somewhere it is wanted...

$388,000 to restore the house is an absolute joke. I cannot believe anyone would take them seriously with that kind of inflated price.
